'AMAZINGLY USEFUL AND AMAZINGLY EXPENSIVE!'
Strengths:
Versatile and lightweight It can be folded thick or thin to vary head temperature. I use it as a replacement for my wooly hat and headband when hillwalking and as a sun hat when out sailing.
Weaknesses:
Cost!
Overall:
Brilliant piece of kit. I'd like more of them but not at RRP £13 each!

'Go buy'
Strengths:
Can be used for almost eveything..gret for stopping sweat running into your eyes, stick one under a helmet to keep your head warm, dump one in a streem for head cooling....also usefull for keeping sun of head and neck and in winter to keep ears, mouth and nose warm...doen't go all wet and manky when you breath thru it.
Weaknesses:
the most expensive bit of cloth i have ever bought
Overall:

'I LOVE MY BUFF!'
Strengths:
Very versatile. Can be carried in a small pocket, a bag or even wrapped around your wrist. It can keep anything warm that you can think of ;)and for anyone with longer hair, it can even be used as a hair tie or hair band. How brilliant is that!
Weaknesses:
Price, but I think it is worth it. I have used it more than I would have used a scarf. It also comes in so many different patterns that it is hard to choose which one to buy!
Overall:
I really think it is worth getting one, as it can be used in so many ways. It weighs very little and takes up no room at all. Can be used on chilly summer evenings when a full scarf would just look plain silly!

'YOU'LL BE LOST WITHOUT ONE'
Strengths:
It's a pretty much essential piece of mountain biking gear and through the winter I usually wear two. One under the lid, the other as a neck gaitor.

Dries so quickly so can easily be turned round. Ideal as a glasses cleaner too.

Available in many different patterns, and there's even winter half fleece winter version.
Weaknesses:
Damn expensive for what it is.

My first one has recently begun to distintegrate in the wash.
Overall:
Buy one you won't regret it.

Strengths:
Very Versitile, can be used for many things, good as lightweight scarf, & emergency hat, I use it all the time for walking/mountain biking. Many patterns, good for midges
Weaknesses:
Can look a bit silly if used as a bandana (no offence intended), Expensuive or what?
Overall:

'IT'S A BIT OF MATERIAL'
Strengths:
Hard to think of any, it's so versatile it's useless for most purposes. Great marketing though.
Weaknesses:
Some of the designs are quite interesting, maybe as psychedelic wallpaper.
Overall:
It's a bit of stretchy material. It's expensive. Buy a hat/headband/garotte instead.

'MULTIFACETED'
Strengths:
Compact and lightweight.
Weaknesses:
Costly for a tube of cloth.
Overall:
I used to think that buffs were for posers but stinging eyes caused by salty sweat running
from my brow was the reason I bought a buff to use as a headband. It has proved to be a
versatile piece of kit that I always take with me. It converts into a lightweight hat which
gives protection from the sun or for use when a full-blown hat would be too warm. It can
be doubled up and slipped over the wrist to be used for mopping up dribbles.

For winter I use the version with the added fleece, which makes a comfortable draught
excluder round the neck and pulls up to make a face mask.

Of course if you want to pose you can always wear your Buff pirate style.
