'GREAT BASIC GPS WITH GOOD BATTERY LIFE'
Strengths:
Long Battery Life
Ease of use, also it is easy and quick to customise displayed data fields.
Waterproof and fairly robust (although I do keep it almost permanently in the neoprene case)
standard mini usb connection
cables and computer software included for downloading/uploading data
once the gps has aquired a few satillites it is very good at holding onto them
stores a decent number of waypoints
indication of position accuracy and if the GPS can provide a 2d position (horizontal plane) or 3d (including vertical height)
Weaknesses:
sometimes the belt clip comes undone,
sometimes satillite aquisition can be a bit slow, especially if you are more than a hundred miles from where you last turned it on.
Mapsource software supplied is not the best
system for naming waypoints or routes is rather slow and a little tedious selecting the letters or numbers
Overall:
I have been using this GPS (in conjunction with paper maps and compass) for a few years now, it meets my purposes perfectly in that most of the time i use it for marking points of interest and recording routes for download to my computer later. manually inputting points into the gps is rather slow and tedious but this is probably in common with other GPS's. Battery life is very good and was one reasons I close this GPS - Garmin quote this as being upto 28 hours which in the right conditions i think is about right using Energizer batteries. Has been used accuratly (I assume) from below sea level to thousands of metres up flying back from holiday on a plane.

'EXCELLENT PRODUCT, ACCURATE, VERY ROBUST, GOOD BATTERY LIFE'
Strengths:
Waterproof, robust (been dropped several times and still perfect), fast aquisition time, accurate, good feature set, good connectivty (USB, External Ariel, power/data)
Weaknesses:
None, if I had to say something I would say the belt clip is a bit flimsy (mine broke when I accidently got it caught in my harness) but able to be relpaced with a £2 mobile phone belt clip (same attachment) so not really a weakness.
Overall:
Best outdoor GPS i've owned or used, really robust and waterproof (both tested accidently many times), accurate and quick to aquire satellites. Best coverage unit i've had under moderate tree cover. Links to PC using USB (cable included) or you can buy a combined power and serial cable, I havent bought one, as battery life is very good.
The included software is a bit basic but there are other good free mapping tools available on the web that are fully compatible.
Like the others I bought from Amazon as they were the cheapest. - Great value, highly recommended.

'FANTASTIC FOR THE MONEY'
Strengths:
Price (get it from amazon)
Ease of use.
Clear sceen even in sunlight or darkness.
Good Battery life
Comes with all the cables.
Feature packed.
Weaknesses:
None so far.
Overall:
This was my 1st GPS after never really wanting one or wanting to spend any money on one, but now im a total convert, The basic software that comes with it is ok for quickly adding new waypoints etc.

Invest in some decent rechargable batteries as standard AA's go flat quick in the cold.

The GPS is extremely accurate and works well everywhere i have tried it so far although it occasionaly drops signal in thick woodland.

Im now saving for some tracklogs software and maps so things can only get better.!

'CAN'T FAULT IT YET'
Strengths:
£118 from amazon, even the dodgey ebay shops aren't that cheap.
usb cable in package.
Once acquired, it keeps a signal in all but the thickest cover.
It's said you still need an aftermarket serial cable for some applications, I've had no problems with the usb (supplied) with various applications.
Weaknesses:
Really can't find any yet.
Overall:
Great package

'AS GOOD AS YOU'LL GET FOR A BASIC MODEL'
Strengths:
price
signal acquisition
accuracy
features
battery life
mapping compatability
easu of use
good size clear screen
Weaknesses:
size if it really matters to you
Overall:
£118 from amazon, used it in a car, on a bike, and on foot, extremely quick signal acquisition even from 'cold', worked fine in a car without an aerial, user interface is good and simple to use, more features than you can shake a stick at, battery life is good and comparable to what garmin quote (28 hrs). simple to use keys, nice belt clip and cycle mount (bike mount is extra). used with tracklogs digital mapping software and its a doddle to import and export routes or tracklogs, not a 'mapping' unit in street level car sat-nav sense so if you want in car sat nav then buy a tom tom etc, but if you want a good basic but feature packed recreational gps that will work with tracklogs, memory map or anquet digital mapping then you can't go wrong with this one.
