More about Scarpa
Average Rating: 4 out of 5
No. of Reviews: 8
RRP: £135
Year: 2006

Description: The Scarpa Nepal offers is a 3 season walking boot, suited to year-round use in all but serious winter conditions. The Nepal is especially suited to adventurers trekking in warm conditions owing to the high level of breatability given by the Nubuck leather upper. The upper has an ergonomic flex zone to give better flexibility at the ankle, and is half leather lined for added comfort. There is also a substantial rubber rand for protection against abrasion etc. The sole unit is built by Vibram and is their ' Megan' unit featuring a combination PU/EVA wedge for lightness and shock absorption, combined with exceptional stability.

'VERY COMFY SO FAR'
Strengths:
Comfy, Sturdy, take everything that I've thrown at them so far. Love them.
Weaknesses:
Needed careful lacing to fit my foot (cheers Parky) Not the lightest boot around.
Overall:
After about 200 miles these are great boots. Regular cleaning and proofing, (Nikwax Nubuck & Suede) I can't fault them, even in a foot of water, my feet were completely dry! If they fit your feet try them out. Got them for £85.

'GREAT 3 SEASON BOOT'
Strengths:
*Great protective rand
*High quality leather liner
*Chunky sole pattern
*High cut is supportive
Weaknesses:
*Not the lightest of boots
*Must proof regularly due to lack of gtx liner
Overall:
I do most of my walking bog-hopping in the peaks so it was a bit of a gamble going for an unlined boot. I'm glad to say these boots have stood up to everything I've thrown at them. I've walked for miles in ankle deep bogs, climbed waterfalls and crossed streams and these boots haven't let a drop of water in. The rand is fantastic for scrambling and protective on scree. A great looking boot too. My first choice boot in all but the most wintry conditions.

'RECOMENDED FOR TREKKING IN NEPAL'
Strengths:
Comfortable, Cool, Rubber rand protects boot and user from rough tracks.
Weaknesses:
Insole needed replacing because of odour.
Heel could be more aggresive for better traction on the lose stuff.
Overall:
Good boot for warm climates, did the biz during a months trekking in Nepal.

Overall:
I'm really pleased with these boots - I suffer from overheating feet in Goretex lined boots, but these are fine - and waterproof if you look after them - and if you DO look after them, they will certainly look after you.

'FANTASTIC BOOT '
Strengths:
No Goretex lining
Fantastic fit and support
Good price
Very grippy sole
Easy to clean
Rubber rand all the way round
big sizes availble

Weaknesses:
White laces....daft idea!
Took a while to get the laces right.
No Goretex lining = not 100% waterproof.
standard footbeds are a bit rubbish.
Overall:
I bought these boots to replace my old scarpa peak gtx

Decided aganist a goretex lining in a bid to reduce sweaty feet.

After much searching i managed to get some from the climbers shop in ambleside who were great...one of the many problems associated with size 13 feet!

I was impressed with the quality of the boot, very little stitching and the allround rubber rand looks nice and secure.

I did a couple of short walks in them to get sued to them where i ajusted the laces.

The did the lyke wake walk, the boots coped fantastically will the varying terrain...everything from extremely wet bog to rocks and mud.

After the walk i had a couple of blisters...probably due to my socks and my feet were a bit sore, i also purchased some superfeet footbeds.

I have been very impressed with teh boots so far and have done 100's of miles already and theya re just getting better all of the time.

I just hope that they stay watertight for as long as possible.

'GREAT BOOT AT A GOOD PRICE'
Strengths:
I've covered about 100 miles so far in my Nepals including Yorkshire 3 peaks and they have proved up to the job in every situation. Ankles get great support and vibram sole unit promotes confidence due to the fact it grips on any terrain, including wet rocks.
Weaknesses:
Only gripe I've had is you have to fiddle with the laces to get the best fit and it seems to change with every outing. Minor problem though.
Overall:
An excellent boot which copes with everything thrown at it. Comfy fit with aggressive sole means you have the confidence to do everything. I've climbed, scrambled and walked through bogs with no problems.
