 | Average Rating: 4 out of 5 No. of Reviews: 8 RRP: £17.50 Year: 2006 Description: Gourdon is a strange little beast. First he was a roll-top dry bag with a couple of carry straps, then he became a favourite on the beach keeping all the sand out of our sandwiches. He even managed to fake it as an ultra-light race pack. What we found was that Gourdon, unlike most men, was actually quite good at doing a few things at the same time. Available in 25l and 30l sizes (£2.50 extra).

 | | | Posted: 10/02/07 | | 'A GREAT IDEA' | | Strengths: Price, weight, waterproof | | Weaknesses: LOOSE STRAPS!!! | | Overall: When I first saw this on Alpkit's website, I thought 'what a great idea',& bought one immediately. After three months use, I still think it's a great idea; it does exactly what it says on the tin; in Alpkit's own words, it 'keeps your stuffs dry'. (What??) It's main failing, however is in those straps - a day's walking is punctuated by a constant re-tightening of all three straps. Other minor niggles are the chest strap- the buckle fell off this on my second day out- it was pretty useless, anyway, even more so minus a buckle, so I binned the whole thing. Also, the clear panel - I don't see the point & I'd rather not advertise to people how ineptly I've packed my sack! Perversely though, like the other reviewers, I still really like the thing - I'd love to see one, say about 50 litres, capable of carrying a moderate backpacking load. However, Alpkit really do need to look at the straps again. |
