No. of Reviews: 8
Weight: 213g (medium)
RRP: £20
Year: 2007

Description:
  • Drop shoulder seam to prevent shoulder rub
  • Bent side seams
  • Centre front YKK zip (25 cm), for easy venting
  • Poly/Merino mix fabric (43% Merino wool and 57% Polyester).

Merino provides comfort in a wide range of conditions and keeps nasty smells at bay considerably longer than than pure synthetics. Polyester keeps the garment weight down, and quickens the drying time.

Fabric made in the UK using yarn spun in Italy from New Zealand Merino Sheep.

'GREAT FABRIC AWFUL FIT'
Strengths:
Breathes well, warm when you stop.
Weaknesses:
Short arms, short body, erm... short and tight. Basically the sizing is bonkers.
Prepare for 10% shrinkage.
Overall:
Wear mine whenever I get then chance. Great for running and cycling.

Order TWO full sizes up.

Would only buy again if they can sort out the sizing.

'SHORT BODY LENGTH'
Strengths:
Good material
Weaknesses:
The body length is a good 4" too short, so you end up cold round yor waist.
Overall:
I wasted my money

'DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN'
Strengths:
Warm, wicking and no offensive odour.
Weaknesses:
Again the sleeves do seem slightly short, although I do have the arms of a gorilla.
Overall:
At twenty pounds it performs as well as tops I have paid 2 or 3 times more for.

'SUPERB VALUE'
Strengths:
Comfortable, soft, wicking, great fit, smells nice too! At 20quid this is a real bargain
Weaknesses:
fit at the front seems marginally short but I can live with it (otherwise fit is perfect for me)
have heard others say shrinkage is variable but havent washed mine yet
Overall:
a fabulous price for a really useful and wellmade bit of kit. I wear it on cold days as a stand alone layer and it is the biz

'WISH THE SLEEVES WERE LONGER'
Strengths:
Wicks like crazy.
Almost no smell after being worn for a week.
Good price for merino.
Weaknesses:
Sleeves need to be longer-I think this has been the most common comment about this top. I could do with another 2" per sleeve at least.
Sleeves a little tight if you want to push them up.
Overall:
I'm really impressed by the performance. Being a smelly, sweaty person who overheats quite easily when moving, it was a surprise to be able to use only this in a variety of conditions. I've heard merino does the whole 'cool when hot, warm when cold' thing and was pleased to find this to be my experience also. Anything else I wore for a week would have probably made me sick if I'd smelt it, but you couldn't even tell I'd worn this.

Please give us longer sleeves and also a short-sleeve option! I've given 4/5 on the value because of the sleeves, but it's the only complaint I have.

'VERY NICE'
Strengths:
Warm when it's cold, cool when it's hot. It really does stay warm and comfortable when wet. Doesn't become really smelly very quickly. Very good value.
Weaknesses:
Very small sizing, I've got an Xl - the biggest - and I'm 5'11. I can't see it fitting anyone much taller than that. It could do with being slightly longer as well.
Overall:
Excellent baselayer at a brilliant price.

'a merino baselayer for £20'
Strengths:
price, warmth, colour not too bright.
Weaknesses:
none i can think off.
Overall:
a great piece of kit, i wore it on a bivvy in april and was very warm inside my sleeping bag, this bit of kit will be on every bivy from now as it out performs many other base layers of mine which cost twice the price.

this is why i score it 100%

BUY ONE IT IS ONLY £20 !
