More about Black Diamond
Average Rating: 4 out of 5
No. of Reviews: 4
RRP: £28
Year: 2002

Description: The boys at Black Diamond claim that they designed this LED headlamp to provide 70 hours of illumination on three AAA batteries. We think they just wanted to re-enact the Space Marines scenes from the Alien film sequels. Unusually for an LED lamp, the beam is directional. Water-resistant design Quadruple LED design Adjustable lamp housing Secure, over-the-head strap

'GREAT LED TORCH'
Strengths:
Having 4 LED's compared to the usual 3 gives you more light than the compition. The design is robust with all the advantages you get with LED torches.
Weaknesses:
Like all LED torches still not bright enough for a misty walk but great for emergencies.
Overall:
Great torch for around the camp site & blinding you fellow campers with its piercing bright white light.

'NO NONSENSE LED HEAD TORCH'
Strengths:
A very robust headtorch. Small yet delivers a large surface area of light.
Comfortable to wear and easily adjusted.
The batteries last seemingly forever
Weaknesses:
The ratchet type system, which holds the clicks the headtorch up and down, securely, gave out, but I did use it every night for 4 1/2 months!! Still not as good as normal torch light in some occasions.
Overall:
A fantastic headtorch, which stood up to an operational tour in the Gulf! I literally used it everynight, and it never gave me any problems.

'GREAT HEADTORCH'
Strengths:
Batteries last forever, very light, and comfortable. With 4 LEDs rather than 3 it is bright enough for most night hiking
Weaknesses:
Its not as good in twilight as regular lights, but who needs a light then anyway?
Overall:
I used to use a petzl zoom, but found it ate batteries so got this instead, I use it as a trailguide and don't have to worry about batteries dieing on me. It was great in caves. Everyone should have one.

'IMPRESSIVE...'
Strengths:
Good diffusion of the light. Pretty lightweight, batteries last for around 80 hours and has various modes of brightness. Was cheap when I bought it. Comfy.
Weaknesses:
Seems a bit dim at times compared to others especially more modern torches.
Overall:
Had mine for about 2 and a half years, getting on a bit now when compared to the competition but a bargain and still not had to replace it.
