' | | Strengths: - Light - Windproof - Wicks moisture very well - Water resistant - Very comfortable - Can be worn as base-, mid- or shell layer, quick-drying, packable... - Stowable hood | | Weaknesses: - Doesn't resist abrasion too well on climbs - Zips catch on lining too easily | | Overall: I bought this item because, though I like the 'soft-softshell' concept, I found my Buffalo Mountain Shirt too hot for anything except blizzard conditions. This is now the first item I reach for in my kit-bag, whether I'm climbing, walking, mountain biking. Though not technically waterproof, I'm constantly amazed just how bad the weather has to get before I'm forced to dig my shell jacket out. Also seems to regulate core temperature very well - I've worn mine in Snowdonian blizzards and cool Morroccan evenings, and I'm always comfortable. I've tried Buffalo, Montane and 'hard' softshells, but this wins, hands down. Dri-Clime totally warrants its cult status! |
