'Retro chic? Maybe...possibly just plain daft looking.'
Strengths:
Only 100g for a huge increase in comfort in windy / damp conditions. Zips help donning over trainers, but not really quite big enough for boots. Fast drying, and very breathable - no sweatiness.
Weaknesses:
Pertex - it really isn''t waterproof at all - so don''t expect to wear them in hosing rain and stay dry.
Overall:
After languishing on a shelf at the Outdoor Equipment Co-op for a decade these were a suprising find. (Especially at this price!). A striking bright blue colour too - very late 80s. Given their negligible weight they can readily be left at the bottom of a bumbag when running, or as a pair of windproof legs to be slipped into when the sun goes down and you're still on top of a munro in summer and the shorts are getting cold...If the forecast is alright, and overtrousers overkill, at 100g these are just the ticket - extra safety reserves / comfort for negligible weight.
