Some holes on inside of boot caused by rubbing / toes. | | Overall: Owned these coming up for 3 years. The leather is still in good order, as is the Vibram sole which is only really worn at rear despite much road walking.
The inner of the boot wears through in holes due to rubbing of foot / toes.
Overall I am happy with the durabilty and value, and would buy another pair today if I could find them in shops. (Reluctant to buy online as unsure what size they are!). Sadly, I can only find Burma Pro GTXs, which don't appear to be as good as these? Any comments re this? Are there any real differences?[Update 14/07/06] OK, since writing this I've bought another pair. I have been so pleased with the old pair it would have been daft to risk buying something else. I still wear the old pair, but obviously the tread is more worn which can be a bit tricky in slippery conditions. Otherwise, they appear to have many more miles left in them and still offer resistance to water and look good.
I do quite a lot of road walking, so the heal tends to take a bashing and is the first part to wear. |

| | Overall: I'd heard about the "comfortable from the box" blurb before, and had tried other Meindl boots, but no others had fitted my "narrow heeled, narrow mid step, wider (but not wide) heel" until these. I like the fact these will take a walking crampon, so I won't need to reach for my much less comfortable winter boots anymore. The sole unit is very good on rock, even wet slippery rock, and gives confidence for edging and smearing whilst scrambling. However; the cleats fill up with mud and the only way to get them clean is to walk through deep puddles or streams. The stiffness of the sole is perfect for all year round tramping the hills and rocky coasts. I've even walked long road sections and these boots are Uber comfortable. I really can't think of any situation in Britain where these boots won't excel (apart from high winter stuff). If these fit your feet, GET THEM!!! You'll never be disappointed. |
