Description: Multi-functional LED hadtorch with three 5mm LEDs plus one 1W LED plus red backlight LED, uses 3 AAA batteries (Duracell supplied), red and green light options for night vision, picotable head-unit, adjustable elasticated headband, strobe mode on all lights plus instand switch off in all modes, water resistant to 10 metres.

OM short review: Good performance at any price, but for £12.50 the Gamma is an absolute steal. Great for use both on the hill and around camp. The additional red LED on the back of the battery box is a master stroke as well and great for runners, walkers and late night pub goers who want to be spotted from behind.

'BEST VALUE HEADTORCH THERE IS!'

Strengths:
Price, very bright, light and well balanced on your head, rear red light.

Weaknesses:
I wish it would remember which of the small coloured LEDs was used last when it's switched off and on again. i.e. if its turned off after using the red LED, it should turn on using the red LED next time. It would be TWICE AS GOOD if it could do just that!

Overall:
You can't buy a better headtorch for £12.50. Superb!

'VERY VERY NICE. I MEAN REALLY, VERY VERY NICE.'

Strengths:
Light (as in not heavy), comfortable, powerful, flexible, easy to use.

Weaknesses:
It's not free (can't think of anything else).

Overall:
Not everyone has got on with the switch arrangement but I think it's great - it's easy to use, remembers what you set it to previously (so it remembers the mode you use the most - what more could you want?) and works well with our without gloves (though the rear light is a bit hit and miss with mittens).

Recommended to all but especially to those on a budget.

'AMAZING'

Strengths:
it's got a good selection of lights, packs into your cup for stowing away in the bag, VERY bright full beam, the fit's nice and comes from ALPKIT - so good service & delivery - free batteries too !!

Weaknesses:
none for me as yet

Overall:
cracking wee light for the money. i was in cairngorms with one last week, met folk with petzl's etc... mine was the best light there, BY MILES !!

and they knew it :D

'ABSOLUTE BELTER!'

Strengths:
Firstly the price, unbelievable!! The 1 wat LED is way brighter than my old PETZL TIKKA which has now been relegated to my toolbox in work. The small white LED gives a good strong wide beam excellent for around camp and even sufficient I found for tootling back to my tent from the pub a few weeks back. The green and red LED's are great for saving your nightvision and the red one makes a nice warm comforting glow when reading while tent bound, much more pleasant I found than the harsh glare of white LED. Its also very comfy and well balanced on the head even while running I found. Light unit pivots well and I like the red blinking light on the battery pack, makes me feel a little more secure while on the road at night.

Weaknesses:
The only down side I can think of is when you are using the small LED's you get the white one first, it would make sense to me to get the green or red to preserve your night vision. I cant comment on reliability as Ive only had it a couple of months but it feels solid and well made.

Overall:
Alpkit have done it again, a great product thats much cheaper and outperforms some of the big name stuff.

'AWESOME!'

Strengths:
cheap, multifunctional lighting, well designed, reasonable weight, free batteries, free delivery, fantastic!

Weaknesses:
not the lightest but its still pretty light. havent had it long so cant comment on durability but looks very solid anyway!

Overall:
what a brilliant product from those guys at Alpkit. The main beam is staggeringly bright and the option to have white, red or green LED low lights is a great option. The rear red LED (cycling, navigation at night) is a brilliant feature. Very comfy and an absolute steal at 12quid

'BLOODY FABULOUS!!'

Strengths:
1w VERY bright, useful power save and strobe mode, 0.5w bright enough to walk, lighweight, comfortable, genius red LED on battery pack, again with strobe.

Weaknesses:
not found one yet

Overall:
Excellent. I just cannot say how good this is for £12.50!! I am half expecting to see most of the UKs hill goers to be using these in the summer!!
