'THE BEST SOCKS IN THE WORLD!!!'
    Strengths:
    Very Comfortable
    No blisters
    Very Breatable
    Quick drying
    NO SMELL!
    Weaknesses:
    None.
    Overall:
I bought these socks randomly on a trip to Snowdonia. There are just hundreds of socks to choose from and as a regular sufferer of blisters, I have tried them all.
I wore them solidly for 3 days walking and wild camping, didn't get one blister and didn't stink the tent out.
Upon returning home, I drove everyone mad with how well the socks had performed. I then wore them for another week to really push them and still they didn't smell.
I will never ever buy another type of sock. They have lasted for nearly two years in perfect condition and have always been soft and comfortable straight from the wash.

But alas, this is not a happy tale. The other week my wife hung them out on the line to dry during a particular windy day. Upon returning home I was about to take the dog out for a walk and decided to put on my "old faithfulls" as it was a bit chilly outside. When I went to the garden I noticed that the socks had been blown from the line, never to be seen again. Sniff!
I know deep down that they were blown to sock heaven somewhere in the sky, and are now looking down on the mountain tops with a sense of pride. sniff, sniff!

Anyway, it's only 6 weeks Crimbo and guess what is right at the top of my list to Santa!!

[Update 04/07/07] After, landscaping the garden I found the above lost socks behind the shed. They were kept dry, but obviously they were covered in muck after being there for 8 months.
Washed them a few times and they came out fine, hence a little faded. They now join my collection of 4 other Smartwool pairs of socks.

    'I HATE WEARING ANYTHING ELSE'
    Strengths:
Comfort - when cold or hot. The fit is roomy - many socks feel too tight. Good when damp. Don't smell even after several days. Revived after washing. No shrinkage.
    Weaknesses:
Shed wool inside especially when new.
    Overall:
Although relatively expensive, I think these are great value socks.

    'A sock for everything'
    Strengths:
This sock has just about everything. It's elasticated in all the right places, easy to wash, anti-fungal (so that you can wear it for up to five days) and being made from Merino wool they keep you warm in winter and cool in summer.
    Weaknesses:
Can become damp when using (but hey, which socks don't?)
    Overall:
I was advised to buy this sock to go with a new pair of boots and I'm really glad I bought them. I have used them multiple times over several days. All I found that was necessary was to take them off at night turn them inside out and allow to dry (since I

    'NICE SOCKS'
    Strengths:
These are the most comfortable socks I have ever worn. I have had them on my feet for 4 days and they don't smell. We worth the money...
    Weaknesses:
    None yet.
    Overall:
Top socks. I have some thinner socks for summer, some for messing around in and some for running in. Can’t beat them.

    'LOVELY WOOLLY SOCKS'
    Strengths:
Nice and bouncy underfoot. They don't get smelly (well maybe a hint of wet sheep, but not unpleasant). Wash beautifully and stay soft - they don't come out of the machine able to stand up on their own, like some of the relics in my sock drawer.
    Weaknesses:
They cost quite a lot for a pair of socks.
    Overall:
    Happy feet :)

    'THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!'
    Strengths:
I've tried most brands now (Bridgedale, Thorlo, X-Socks, 1000 mile) and Smartwool will be getting my money everytime. The feel wonderful, and just work - what more can you ask for. And all this from someone who has incredibly sensitive feet.
    Weaknesses:
    They certainly aren't cheap!
    Overall:
Without doubt the best walking socks out there, and despite spending money on all the main brands it will be Smartwool that will be getting my money in the future.
