'Sets the standard'
Strengths:
Unbreakable - i've heard rumours you can drive a truck over this bottle and it won't break! Doesn't start smelling, and you can chuck it in the dishwasher! Great value, looks great, loadsa colours available and its 100% leakproof! I've also got a wide mout
Weaknesses:
I've yet to find one... my suggestion is for you to try it!
Overall:
10 out of 10 - i've had mine a while, its sits with me at my desk - then comes and explores on the weekend - versatile, check the site out www.nalgene-outdoor.com

'MMMMMM NALGEEENE!'
Strengths:
I have seen someone accidentally reverse a fifteen seater van straight over someones bag and their nalgene. The nalgene buckled a bit but didn't loose a drop of water. I love my nalegene, very easy to clean, the plastic doesn't retain odoours and so the water always tastes good. The wide mouth neck is essential as you can pack it with ice cubes on a sunny day.
Weaknesses:
I will always own a Nalgene, however on a recent flight I did notice it leaked a bit which was suprising as it has never leaked before or since. Perhaps the only other weakness is that the thread is quite large and if you don't position your mouth well you can start to dribble.
Overall:
sturdy, attractive. Water always tastes good. Don't get the yellow/orange one as people always wonder what you are drinking.

'EATS THE PLATYPUS FOR BREAKFAST!'
Strengths:
Never leaks
Much easier to clean
Easy to fill from (non-UK, non-diseased!) streams
Good for measuring stuff out for cooking
Weaknesses:
Don't get a funky hydration system, so have to stop more for water breaks. However at least you won't poison yourself with microbes, or the bleach you used to try to clean your Smellypus...
Overall:
I have switched from a hydration system to Nalgene. It just works better. For long trips keeping hydration systems clean is a pain, and trying to fill them up when they don't fit under taps, in streams etc. is entertaining.

You can attach smaller nalgenes to your pack with those little carrabeaners (excuse rubbish spelling) to make more accessable.

Price is nice too-I can see it will last years. I like it's cheerful green colour.
