'THE PERFECT COMPLEMENT FOR CAMPING'
Strengths:
So comfotable and light you'll forget you're even wearing it. Has a Positive switch for on/off.
A nice little touch in the electronics for on/off after selecting the power setting (you'd have to use one to know what i mean!)
Weaknesses:
None really, apart from the embarrassment of talking to my Maglite and announcing "Your sacked, I have a new best friend!"
Overall:
A perfect accessory for wearing around a campsite at night. The wide band makes it so comfortable. A must have, and would buy again if I lost it. Price reflects quality, Don't be shy with your cash. Different light intensity setting and tilt function make the perfect balance against battery life for close up things like cooking, eating or Rummaging in your tent .

'NEAR PERFECTION IN A SMALL PACKAGE'
Strengths:
Great lightweight design
Fulfils all requirements for emergency use, use around camp and some night walking (not navigation though)
Weaknesses:
5-10m range is okay but new generaion of LEDs such as the one from BD to be released in 2004 will have a range of 40m
Apart from lacking massively long range - a characteristic shared by all other current (2003) LEDs this has no weaknesses
Overall:
A design / product classic that changed the way we thought about light in the back-country / hills. So small it means that it can be taken anywhere.
New design tweaks have made the PLUS just that little bit better and is worth the extra few pounds.

'GOOD, BUT....'
Strengths:
great torch!!
realy light weight, ultra reliable, good light output, with all leds on full i have used in night navigating-just!
great bit of kit for in the tent and backup!
Weaknesses:
nothing that is not expected- just the leds are not really upto serious night navigating-although this should not be an issue if you plan your walks well!!
would recommend one with a halogen bulb as well!!!
Overall:
amazing torch for the value, ultra light weight, reliable, long battery life

'CRACKING KIT'
Strengths:
high luminosity with 3 brightness settings, ratchet tilt mechanism, excellent battery life good headband
Weaknesses:
None
Overall:
Bear in mind that the Tikka plus is a general "round the camp" light and you won't be dissapointed. If you want a pin sharp beam a mile long, this isn't the torch for you. But if you want a good all purpose light that is reliable and bombproof, it's a gem. Does exactly what it says on the tin !!

'THE BEST NOT-TOO-SERIOUS LIGHT AVAILABLE'
Strengths:
Extremely long battery life
Rumoured to be so waterproof it has even come out of the washing machine still working
Bright
Directable - so you can read at night without the whole campsite being woken up
Adjustable - 3 levels of brightness or flashing
Can get coloured replacement lenses for other uses (e.g. flashing red light while you're on your bike)
Weaknesses:
Price. A really outrageous £27 - £30.
Cheaper in other countries - but you have to buy a lot of them to save enough make up the extra cost of travelling there to buy them
Hang onto it - very light and portable so easy to lose or 'lose'
Envy from friends who haven't got themselves one yet
Overall:
As good as it gets with current generation of LED's. Btw the new LED's coming out late this year will also make TV's etc. lots cheaper too for better quality

'PERFECT'
Strengths:
Variable light, battery will far outlast any short trip away, switch much improved over the Tikka standard, soft and comfy headband, tilt mechanism.
Weaknesses:
None.
Overall:
I resisted getting one of these new-fangled LED torches for years, relying instead on my old Petzl Zoom (which certainly helps build up the neck muscles, if nothing else!). However, having heard good reports I relented and bought a standard Tikka. Needless to say, I've now given the standard Tikka to my son and bought myself the Plus model. This is simply the most well thought-out and implemented piece of kit I've seen in years, a true design classic. Buy one.

'IMPRESSIVE FOR A SMALL PIECE OF KIT'
Strengths:
Variable power is useful for rummaging in the tent.
Uses little power.
Good 10m visibility on full brightness
Weaknesses:
I wouldn't pay high street prices - have a nose around online, I got mine for £21.
Overall:
It won't match my ZOOM for distance but it is a very handy piece of kit that takes up little space. You will also be less likely to switch this on by accident which I've done once or twice with my ZOOM.

'PERFECT FOR CAMPING'
Strengths:
* Duh, the weight obviously. A miniscule 78g
* Long battery life
* Adjustable intensity and tilting housing
Weaknesses:
* The £30 price tag. Tip - buy on eBay, I saved a tenner
Overall:
What a great piece of kit. I've only just bought one, and only used it on camping trips so far, but it has met all my expectations. I found that the low intensity setting was perfectly adequate for reading or cooking. After my previous Petzl Zoom headtorch this feels like a huge leap forward.
