'GREAT GADGET, COMES IN HANDY'
Strengths:
All the functions work, basics are easy to pickup, much cheaper than the RRP nowadays
Weaknesses:
Altimeter is a bit dodgy when at home (at sea level), and sometimes tells me I should have about 90 metres of water above me. Worked fine in the Lakes though, was accurate to within 5M at Scale Force. Possibly too big to wear as an every day watch.
Overall:
Personally I don't mind having the extra size on my wrist and can more than cope with it. the altimeter is almost as good as having a GPS if you're on paths and can read contours on a map. Very handy to have out on the hills.

'HANDY KIT FOR BACK UP EMERGENCY'
Strengths:
Compass is quite accurate. Mine has taken a real bashing on many a rock face (my climbing technique is poor)and despite the cosmetic damage all functions work well. On an abseil I messed up and being a bit cocky and smashed my compass, this piece of kit got me through the negev desert safely. Barometer graphs can help in predicting weather changes, really handy if a flash flood is a possibility.
Weaknesses:
Not as robust as the G-Shock series. Altimeter function is insanely complicated and inevitably under used. Temp reading are NEVER accurate. I recently replaced the batteries and it cost me £25 as there is four or five to replace!
Overall:
I've had mine now for 5 years, totally abused it (not on purpose), used most of the functions extensively (alarm function will defo get you up in the morning whilst not making you the campsite loner) and still appreciate it to this day. Whilst not on trek it's a nice piece of wrist candy if a bit bulky. Don't buy it if you have small/thin arms cos you will look a bit silly.

'SO CHUNKY YOU COULD USE IT AS AN EMERGENCY SHELTER...'
Strengths:
All those cocky functions actually work. I especially like the swirly compass effect and the little barometer and altimeter bar graphs. Alarms and data recording functions as well, if you like that kinda thing. Oh, and it tells the time, and I'll always know what day it is.
Weaknesses:
I got it cheaper than the R.R.P. but it was still expensive. Jokes aside, it's a bit bulky, and although I've smacked it against hard surfaces a few times with no ill effects, I'm not convinced it would stand up to real manly mis-treatment (so I'm safe there, then). Can be difficult to get to grips with without constant ref. to the weighty manual. The altimeter has to be calibrated and the thermometer only works accurately when it's off your wrist.
Overall:
I've had this baby a year and am very happy with it - I certainly don't regret paying the price, but then I'm not into mega-expensive wrist candy, so it's all relative. It works as advertised, and I'd say it's value for money.

'GOOD LOOKING USEFUL GADGET BUT COMPLICATED'
Strengths:
Dedicated buttons makes most functions easy to use and show. Very useful barograph and altimeter trend graph functions. Can predict weather changes! Compass function is good to excellent with direction pointer (saves trying to work out where north is)as well as bearing number
Weaknesses:
altimeter is a nightmare to work out. You need to carry manual for a while to learn how to use it and interpret it.The manual could explain different functions and circumstances to use more clearly. Memory functions could be useful if only it were easier to use.
Overall:
It does what is says and does it reasonably well. Its just gonna take some working out and memorising the functions.

'NICE BIT OF KIT'
Strengths:
Robust, easy to use - does exactly what it says on the tin! I bought mine off the web for £79.99 inc P&P.
Weaknesses:
A bit on the large side.
Overall:
For the money compared to a sunto with the same functions, it is a better investment. Used mine during ML course and it performed well and the altimeter and barometer are very accurate, providing you calibrate each day at known points.
