'GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY - WELL WORTH A LOOK'
Strengths:
Comfy from the off, after only a few days wear I confidently wore them on an 8 mile walk. Not a hint of discomfort. Feel very light weight.
Weaknesses:
None to speak of so far after a few months ownership. Laces seem very flimsy.
Overall:
Very capable boot that looks good and does exactly what it is supposed to.

' A DISAPPOINTED SCARPA FAN'
Strengths:
Weight, comfort, instant wearability, very nice looks.
Weaknesses:
Poor design ad build quality, over priced for East European production (note Trail's 2006 gear guide shows all Scarpa boots as being made in Italy: SLM3s and Mantas are, I'd check closely for the rest!). I bought a pair at the end of 2004 and although in general wear was good, the little Goretex pin fell out from the suede side bar, leaving a nice hole for water entry. I took them back and the replacement pair did the same IN LESS THAN 100 MILES. I was quite shocked.
Overall:
Without the weakness and poor design of the Goretex pin (in fairness, Scarpa not the only manufacturer guilty of this vanity) these would be good boots that would edge close to justifying their high price. I rate their reliability as the lowest possible because the pin popping out didn't just happen with one pair of boots but TWO. By the way, I'm no heavy weight and I look after my kit.

'ANOTHER LET DOWN FROM SCARPA'
Strengths:
Comfort
Features
Good comprimise between walking and scrambling boots.
Weaknesses:
Build Quality
Laces
Overall:
Bought this after getting fed up with the Scarpa Peak. After making sure it was comfortable and fitted well took it on a 10 day walking holiday to Ireland.
Laces keep slipping.
Front hook on gaiters has worn through outer sheath of laces.
Both toe rands started to dis-bond after 3 days and before any scrambling.
These boots are "Made in Romania". Looks like the quality of build and materials has taken a dive but not the prices.
If they fixed these annoying problems it would be a very good boot.

'FANTASTIC LIGHT WEIGHT BOOTS'
Strengths:
The most comfortable lightweight boots I've worn. As well as being totally waterproof
Weaknesses:
Sweaty feet caused by GTX XCR liner.
Overall:
Have worn these on three trips this year, once in fortwilliam and twice in the lakeres. They are the lightest most comfortable boots I have owned. Have owned KSBs before as well as other heavier Scarpa models and high end military boots like Danner, but these have the best all round combination of weight, durability, water-resistance and comfort.

'WHAT AN AMAZING BOOT!'
Strengths:
It's made by Scarpa, probably the worlds leading footwear manufacture.
It uses Gore-Tex XCR. Go and check out how many other footwear manufacturers are allowed to use this fabric in walking boots. (clue...it won't be many). It has a Vibram sole, it's very lightweight, extremely breathable and all for under £100!
Weaknesses:
OK...so it's made in Romania. Normally Scarpa boots are made in Italy, but you did wanna spend less than £100 didn't you? and remember Gore-Tex are such stringent testers of their products (particularly their new-baby XCR) they can't make a duff pair. Besides most footwear from leading brands are made in the far-east!
Overall:
An excellent boot at an excellent price. This is Scarpas biggest selling boot before it hit the shelves.
Go out now, go to an outdoor shop, try a pair on and buy them. Then take them home put them on your feet and by simply putting one foot in front of the other you will be walking.
Also, stop reading these silly internet review thingys that are probably written by some sad people with very sad little lives. Why can't you make up your own mind?
p.s. forgot to mention the size 6 ladies ZG65's have a hidden explosive device in the left foot that goes off after 126 miles, sadly most of your left foot including your lovely new ZG65's are blown to smittherines!

'GOOD BASIC BOOT'
Strengths:
No-frills waterproof protection
Weaknesses:
Clunky feel, less than secure grip
Overall:
Scarpa seem to want to market these as rock shoes for the bog-trotter, but you'll be disappointed if you're expecting a waterproof version of the excellent Ascent series.

In use, the boots feel lighter than they actually are (a fairly chunky 1300g). The fit is quite roomy, but it's possible to make it closer by yanking hard on the laces.

The Hi-Trail sole unit is flexible enough or comfortable walking, but not nearly as grippy on wet rock as you might expect - maybe the big lugs have a hand in this unexpected slipperiness as there's less rubber in contact with the ground.

The XCR lining is actually quite cool, but not so good that I'd consider these for use in warmer conditions.

In four months' use, and over some fairly wet going, I've found these boots reliable and comfortable - sometimes it's just nice to know that you're not going to spring a leak on a long day on the bogs! Some reviewers have had trouble with peeling toe-rands on the Zero-G's, but my pair seem to in good nick still, and overall the construction seems pretty solid.

If you're after a mid-price pair of lightish waterproof boots for general use, they're definitely worth a look.

'COULD THIS BE THE BOOT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR?'
Strengths:
Comfy from the off - without being too soft. Good lining, sole seems pretty gripy, excellent heel cup and toe box. Pretty light. XCR seems to do a good job with moisture; boot pretty cool if you have hot feet like me.
And they look decent.

Self-cleaning lugs work pretty well, too.
Weaknesses:
Doesn't take crampons.
Insoles slip a little.
Overall:
A great boot, if it fits. Toss up between this and some Meindl Borneos in the shop, to give an idea of the last (Borneos a little roomier). Cost, lightness, and sense of being more connected with the ground won out in the end!
