In use, the boots feel lighter than they actually are (a fairly chunky 1300g). The fit is quite roomy, but it's possible to make it closer by yanking hard on the laces.
The Hi-Trail sole unit is flexible enough or comfortable walking, but not nearly as grippy on wet rock as you might expect - maybe the big lugs have a hand in this unexpected slipperiness as there's less rubber in contact with the ground.
The XCR lining is actually quite cool, but not so good that I'd consider these for use in warmer conditions.
In four months' use, and over some fairly wet going, I've found these boots reliable and comfortable - sometimes it's just nice to know that you're not going to spring a leak on a long day on the bogs! Some reviewers have had trouble with peeling toe-rands on the Zero-G's, but my pair seem to in good nick still, and overall the construction seems pretty solid.
If you're after a mid-price pair of lightish waterproof boots for general use, they're definitely worth a look. |
