The Mini-Maglite provides decent illumination, but battery and bulb life are limited compared to newer LED technology, and it's heavy for what you get. By contrast, you can purchase a 28-gram CMG Infinity LED torch with a rugged aluminum housing that lights up nearly as well and will run for 40-60 hours on only one AA battery - plus the bulb never needs replacement. And you can carry three Infinity lights for the weight of one Mini-Mag.
Other problems are that the mini's head rotates all too easily when not in use, which can run the batteries down. You pull the light out of its pouch when it gets dark and it's dead - not good. For the same or less cost, there are better lights out there. |
