I carry this knife all day. It's, by far, one of the tools more use I give to. You can't realize how much useful a little knive like this can be, until you need to cut some walking stick out of a branch, uncork an unexpected bottle of cider, or just pull a prickle out of your finger (it comes with tweezers that work, indeed).
Nowadays, Victorinox has revamped it with black scales and it's name has been changed to "Nomad", that in turn goes very well with it's nature. It's hard to believe that a quality and well tough knive like this can be so inexpensive. I think it's because the dispense of some other functions found in beefier multitools. But I don't think in this as a shortcoming, but an huge advantage. Sure a Leatherman or a SwissChamp have zillions of little gizmos [that you're unlikely to ever use], but weighing more than a ton, the problem is that most times you'd end leaving them at home. On the other hand, the Picknicker/Nomad is lightweight, and has just all the functions a normal person will use.
The handle, being narrow and ergonomic, makes possible to do fairly hard work with the knife without hurting your hand. The blade itself is of generous size, and the steel it's made of allows easy sharpening with a stone.
All in all, I think it's one of the best pocket knives for daily use or camping. |
