'I WEAR NEARLY EVERYDAY.'
Strengths:
Light, very warm even when wet.
Weaknesses:
Too warm for walking.
Overall:
This is a superb jacket. I spend a lot of time outdoors with my job and this is never off my back, I've even got it on now!
When I'm off hiking it lives in the bottom of my pack. It's great for sitting around in the tent or on the tops eating my butty's. I even wear it pot holing when it gets soaked and it's still warm. It is getting a bit tatty but it still performs as well as the day I bought it. When it finally dies I will dash out and buy another.

'THE COMFIEST AND WARMEST OUTER JACKET I'VE EVER HAD'
Strengths:
Really cosy to wear, it's windproof, has a high collar, no draughts get in the neck when it's fully zipped up. nor in the elasticated cuffs or drawstring hem. Doesn't restrict movement too much. Dries quickly if it gets damp. Packs down to small size in its own stuffsack, so doesn't take up too much room in your rucksack. Fold it in half and put it in your sleeping bag stuffsack for a really comfortable pillow.
Weaknesses:
The outer pertex shell could be stronger - mine is wearing and fraying around the cuffs and hem. You still need a waterproof in anything other than a few spits of rain.
Overall:
As far as I know, there's nothing else in it's class (forget down ones, which must stay dry) and I wouldn't swap it for anything else.

'WARM AND LIGHT'
Strengths:
good warmth for the weight
light in weight (compared to fleece)
Slides easily under a water proof jacket for laying
Weaknesses:
very thin light weight outer material that i think would rip easily
Overall:
Only had mine for around 4 weeks so cannot really comment on its robustness, However i can tell you that this jacket kicks any fleece jacket i have had (And thats a few !) butt when it comes to warmth to weight !!!

'LIKE WEARING A SLEEPING BAG.'
Strengths:
So very warm.
Works when wet.
Packs small - weighs nowt.
Weaknesses:
You simply can't move in it for fear of heat exhaustion.
Overall:
First used it at work (Army) when cold and wet is the law and it worked. I then bought one in non-green for the hills. It looks fairly rubbish, but it saved my arse during a bit of an epic in a Highlands winter. It now lives in the bottom of my pack, rarely used but essential.

'VERY WARM BUT I HAVE WEAR WORRIES...'
Strengths:
Very warm; packs relatively small; works when wet; good belay jacket; not too expensive.
Weaknesses:
Mmmm....as someone else has pointed out, the outer pertex shell is a bit flimsy on the one I bought in 1997.
Overall:
I have used this for years in the role of 'belay jacket' when on the move (how I wish I'd patented this latest craze idea...) and as a warm insulating layer under my DPM smock when sat around in tents, etc. Buy it a size larger and you can even bung it on over light webbing.

It works really well - very warm - even when wet. Packs away fairly small. My only gripe is that the pertex outer on the one I bought started to wear away at the cuffs and the neck when I wore it under my ventile smock. I guess what it needs is an outer pertex layer the same sort of thickness as a Buffalo mountain shirt.
