'An item of "Functional Outdoors Clothing"'
Strengths:
Windproof, water-resistant, small, light, packable.
Weaknesses:
Not as breathable as Sprayway make out...can get smelly if you work hard in it.
Overall:
This top was just about perfect in cloud at the weekend. This and a lightweight fleece under it and I was toasty warm and well protected from the wind.

It is easy to get on and off, easy to stow away on the straps of the rucksack to allow quick access when needed, packs small and is so light you don't feel like you have it on.

It is apparently water-resistant (I have had to re-proof it when I washed it and haven't got it wet since then!) but it certainly isn't water-proof as the seams aren't taped.

It also has some "smashing" reflective strips, which I believe some people are suckers for.

All this for £35! What a bargain. The black looks the coolest, but on a sunny day you certainly do heat up.

'Cheap top that does the job'
Strengths:
Cheap, packable, light, breathable, plus water bottle!!
Weaknesses:
Those reflective bits: The writing looks a bit rubbish and where they are bonded to the fabric the breathbility is reduced - hence wet patches. Nice.
Overall:
I've used it running, biking and walking in them thar hills and it's worked excellently every time. It's easy to stow away, has a big map pocket (which it packs neatly into), zip is good for ventilation and getting the thing on and off.

It has withstood a heavy drizzle when walking, it wouldn't take anything more, but then it's not supposed to.

And I've used the water bottle loads too.

Bargain.

'CHEAP WINDPROOF WITH A GOOD FIT'
Strengths:
Very light and packable
Very well priced - esp with £10 off in the clearance sales in Fort William!
Does what it's supposed to do!
Weaknesses:
Could use very slightly longer arms for us taller folk.
The writing on the back is a bit dodgy looking.
Overall:
I was put off slightly by the writing all over the back of it which looks like an advertising blurb! That said the overall cut and quality of the garment was far better than the North Cape one that I was looking at. The Sprayway has velcro cuffs, unlike most of it's competitors, so can be left open for some more air, or closed snugly around the wrist. I wasn't impressed by the elasticated cuffs on competitors models which tend to be too tight for me.

The drawcord around the waist was another nice touch which I can see being handy in the winter to keep the drafts out, and the reflective piping should come in handy on the mountain bike over winter.

The text though.... Don't know why it is there - okay it's reflective which is handy, but something other than an advertising slogan would have been nice! Fortunatly it does tend to be covered by a rucksack though!

Breathability seems okay - much better than a waterproof shell, and the deep zip helps keep things cool when working hard. A great bit of kit and for £24 a bargin! I held off buying one earlier as I was not sure if it would be cut big enough for me, if I destroy this one then I will not hesitate to replace it with the same.

In brief - great bit of kit that does exactly what it says on the tin. Go...buy.....

'YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR'
Strengths:
Useful waterbottle.
Weaknesses:
Perhaps I expect to much from windproof, like say, keeping the wind out! My yorkshire 3 peaks adventure turned into a nightmare as I froze on the top of every peak was the wind cut straight through me.

You feel like an advertising board for Sprayway with all that gubbins scrawled across the back. Although a backpack hides it, and keeps your back windproofed!
Overall:
For me breathablity wasnt an issue, the jacket was too breathable, alowing the wind to shoot straight through!

I feel like I'm reviewing a different jacket, but the picture at the top matches my jacket.

Next time I'll save and get a Pertex shell.

'DONT BOTHER LADS'

Weaknesses:
dosent resist rain or proper wind.
Overall:
ok, but go for the spray way hd velocity for full wind and waterproof + a rollaway hood at £60 outdoor action.

'CHEAP AND CAPABLE'
Strengths:
Light, packs down small, keeps wind out well. Good value
Weaknesses:
Cuff design not the best.
Overall:
My top is the newer design without the billboard type logo across the back. Its fine for spring/autumn early mornings on the bike to keep the wind off. Cargo pocket/stuff sack is also really handy.
Doesn't come with a water bottle now, I believe.

'HANDY EXTRA LAYER '
Strengths:
Its light quite wind proof and will resist a light shower. Its well cut for my strange body shape (too much beer probably. Best of all it packs small and it weighs almost nothing.
Weaknesses:
The plastic taps on the end of the velcro closures on the arms can get in the way especially if it's worn over or under a fleece layer.
Overall:
Cheap and light weight, good ventilation from the deep chest zip. comfortable to wear
