NOT WHAT THEY WERE

Padding helps reduce pain.
This year I found they didn't stick well. Nor did they heal my blisters, or eliminate pain as effectively as in the past. They leave gunk on socks.
In 2000 on the Coast to Coast I found these fantastic, but this year I was much less impressed, and I wonder whether the composition has changed. Certainly I found them much easier now to get off the bath, so I'm sure something has changed. Incidentally, I followed the instructions about clean/dry skin, pre-warm, hold it in place after applying, tape down the edges to the letter.
