INDESPENSABLE.

Like the blade lock feature, the old leatherman without it was lethal.
Quite heavy, but that is probably why it is so strong.Expensive, but it will probably be a lifetime purchase.
A classic, well developed bit of kit, mine is in the car and goes everywhere with me.

A MUST HAVE

substantial bit of kit.
Pliers are excellent as are wire cutters. Sharp blades.
supplimentary wave kit is overpriced and a poor fitting solution...non locking. No corkscrew limits you to champagne and screwtops.
take this one with you.

EXCELLENT

Tough, easy to use, excellent quaity tools. The leather pouch is sturdy enough to trust without fear of it being ripped from the belt. However, it will only fit on a 1" belt and not the 2.5" police utility belt. Fixes loads of things.
Not found any and carried it 24 hours a day for 18 months. Very expensive in the UK. Got mine from a Knife dealer in New York via the internet.

I feel naked without it. It is also a preferred choice of tool for burglars and car theives.

GET YOURSELF ONE OF THESE

All the tools - a full size set of pliers and a good range of blades. A really good pair of scissors aswell
none - it is superb
get one - it will be a sound investment. It gets so much use everywhere rather than hunting for a screwdriver at the bottom of a grimy toolbox. Look around - i got mine for £40

ONE BIG TOOLBOX

You have all the tools you would ever dream of, except a corkscrew (as I found out to my expense). The worldwide warranty also gives peace of mind, and since I bought from the dear old US of A, I can say that it was quite cheap.
As I said, it lacks a corkscrew (as do all Leathermans come to think of it). It is a bit heavy, mostly due to the thick handles. Also the tool can twist unnervingly while using the screwdrivers.
It is one good piece of kit. Before I had a Leatherman Flair, and lost it. And as they say, 'you appreciate what you had when you lose it'. I simply had to get another Leatherman for all the odd jobs around the house, since my dad always has the tools in his car. Bought from the USA it is relatively cheap, so I suggest trying an online shop. The company claims that the Wvae has 'the most comfortable handles', but be warned, this only applies when the tool is used as a pliers. Then the rounded handles are truly comfortable. But when it is closed, it is quite the opposite due to the protruding blade backs. But despite its 'comfortable handles' being not so comfortable after all, and being a bit 'twisty', I still wouldn't go out without it, and it has helped me from cooking sausages to plugging a Land Rover's leaky tank. That in fact is it's strength; it's versatility, since it's just like carrying a toolbox with you.
