WHY?!
I'll admit I don't have a pair of Makalu Classics but I bought a pair of Makalu Anti-Shocks for £45, surely this is better value? U get rubber handles more comfortable and warmer. & the anti-shock is a gods sent on quick desents!

A simple, functional basic
Simple construction, easy to adjust. Compact storage. Cheap. Equally good on a variety of surfaces, including ice/snow.
Plastic grips are not 'ergonomic' if you have especially large or small hands, and could get uncomfortable if your hands sweat a lot. Lost the wee plastic pole holder-togetherer thingy about 2 mins after purchase.
Why spend £££ on anti-shock, fancy grips etc when these do the job perfectly? Btw, they are less than 1/2 the price abroad - I bought mine in Italy for £21 the pair.
