Worth mentioning they do a version without the liner simply called the Solomon X Ultra.

Need to know

Great Salomon fit, reasonably light, reasonably burly and the most aggressive outsole we've seen on a Salomon walking shoe so far. Plus we like the Quicklace speed-lacing system.
 
Gore-Tex liners are great in cold, damp conditions but can feel sweaty when the going gets hot.
