BRILLIANT WALKING SHOE
The heel cup creates a very snug fit on my foot that only allows very minimal heel slippage. This makes the shoe very comfortable to wear. The wear rate of the sole is not as good as heavy boots but better than expected. I used them in conjunction with some Mountain Hardwear gaiters for backpacking a very wet West Highland Way and my feet did not get wet once. I found the shoe had a great advantage over boots on this type of walking as it gave me a spring to my step due to the ankle pivot.
It isn't the lightest walking shoe out there. If anything the uppers might be slightly overdesigned relative to the sole unit. The RRP is expensive. If you do any long distance hill walks such as the Lakeland 3000'ers in them I did find by the end that my toes were hurting on the last downhill section due to banging against the front of the inside of the toebox. I imagine this might be common on all shoe type walking shoes when doing this type of hard walking.
Very nice shoe. I am definitely considering getting a replacement pair for the ones I have used for the last two years.
