Best Approach Shoe I've Owned

Superb fit, good grip, and still going strong after 4-5 years of frequent use.
The tongue has a tendancy to slip to one side.
One of the best outdoor products I have ever owned in 30 plus years, and for me the most comfortable footwear I have had outdoor or casual. Recommended.

DECENT ALL ROUNDER BUT TOO HOT

Good foot shape. Holds the heel but opens out a little in the forefoot. Durable toe rand.
Full width tongue is too heavily padded and makes the shoes too hot for warmer conditions. Odd looking heel unit. Tread feels a bit soft and may not wear well.
Nice try, but should have been better. Scarpa should try a revised version next year.

GREAT APPROACH SHOE WITH SUPERB SCRAMBLING POTENTIAL

Stiff fronted scrambling ability. Great Vibram tread with superb adhesion. Well cushioned heel. Great ability to edge (on inside).
Ankle cut wont suite everyone.
The Zens ouze Scarpa's usual superb quality and innovative design. Although a reasonably comfortable approach shoe it is obvious that the designers had scrambling and easy rock in mind. Having walked in, you can tighten the laces and Grade 1s up to Diffs should be no problem. Took them for a test run up Kentmere and included some scrambling. I was impressed. They inside edge superbly and give a very positive feel with very good smearing. Outside edging not so good as the shoe tends to bend. The only problem I have experienced is that cut around the ankle bone is a bit high so any rolling pronation can lead to tenderness of the ankle bone, but this is largely personal, so recommend you try for yourself. One slight improvement for me would be to reduce the width of the heel tread in line with a fell running shoe. This would reduce lateral strain on the foot and knee. However this is a small point and largely personal. Their performance as a scrambling tool is superb! Please note Reliability score is based on a short trial.
