Absolutely great boot, slightly on the heavy side but ideal for rough terrain in all seasons. Excellent for winter hill walking, but OK for summer mountains, too. I will be re-soling mine several times, I am su Continue reading...

Is this boot a B2?  Can anyone tell me if they will fit a Fritschi 88 Swiss Army touring ski binding?

May need a B3 boot for that.

Many thanks

Charles, a bit puzzled by your query . La Sportiva haven't made the Makalu for several years now. In case you've happened on a good 2nd-hand pair, I'm fairly certain they were B2. Can't comment re. the bindings. Hope this helps.

Don't know about the ski bindings but I use my Makalus with strapless step-in crampons.

If there's a heel notch in those boots (and I think there is) you may well be able to get them to work with those bindings. I doubt it will feel like anything other than a poor compromise, though. B3 may feel a little better, but these are bindings that really want proper ski boots. They're pretty hefty for just hiking across flat terrain.
