MY OLD FRIEND

Indestructible. Stable. An abolute hoot when your friends come clomping along in their plastics as you stroll back into camp.
Absolute sponge in the wet. Silkies, Gore Tex booties, and wool are a must. I would like a little more height in the ankle. Of course that was answered in the newer versions.
Bought mine in '94 and have used them anytime I carried any signifigant weight or tackled angry terrain. I have used them to excess in randonee bindings in the bumps and in crampons. Too soft for front pointing. I am currently coveting a pair of Evo's and my friends say that after 15 years it's OK to buy new boots. I disagree. You wouldn't ditch your best dog just because he's got a few years on.

TOUGH BOOT FOR MY AWKWARD FEET.

incredibly tough boot giving confidence in your steps in all terrains. looks great. nice lacing system.
break in period is long, did experience heel lift with these boots, but i wedged a small folded pad of newspaper underneath the footbed heel, which is now better. I found the volume above the ball area of foot a little small even when not tightly laced. They do feel a little heavy on times.
i have had them now for 5 months, i admit the fit is not 100% tho could just be my awkward feet, (I am not sure if i am still in the break in period??) but overall i love these boots to bits and i will persevere.

STILL NOT SURE

A very sound boot, taken me up Mont Blanc as well as through waist-deep bogs in Dartmoor
It has taken a long time to break them in, and they have given me Achillies problems, but that could just be me!
Excellent all-rounder, if a bit weighty at times.

A RELIABLE FRIEND

Tough but also light, comfortable even on prolonged, warm days.
Not the most waterproof boot in the world.
Impressed, with a Gore-tex lining it should become a classic, i can't think of a better boot in its class.

HIGH PERFORMANCE 4 SEASON BOOT

Agree with Ian above on the lace locking system which is a plus.Good for walking AND scrambling giving a feeling of real security on rock.
Rather a narrow fit so you may have to buy a size larger than usual.A little on the havy side so not sure if I'll use them in the summer.
Had them for 10 months now, only worn twice last winter, but worn during a full weeks scrambling in the Lakes in October. A few days to wear in, but now brilliant. Can't wait for some snow!
