CRACKING BOOT - AS EVER A CLASSIC

Bomber Construction
Comfort
Resists Cold and Weather
None so far - not goretex but that has not made any noticeable difference.
Great boot, one of the classics for winter mountaineering. Get them dirty quick, the yellow advertises newby status far and wide!

GREAT WINTER CLIMBING / MOUNTAINEERING BOOT

Everything!
Fit, warmth, support, eh, everything!
Suppose cost, but all boots of this type are expensive. Can be a bit tiresome for long walk ins.
I've used this boot for winter walking, mountaineering, Scottish climbing and ice fall climbing in Norway. Boot performs flawlessly. If you are after a boot for winter walking, then get something a wee bit less stiff, but if you are planning to do winter climbing/scrambling etc then these are ace. You can quite often pick them up in the sale just after winter.

GREAT SCOTTISH WINTER / SUMMER ALPINE BOOT

almost fully rigid sole for technical climbing, warm enough for all scottish winter and summer alpine climbing, well fitting and comfortable (for me at least!)
still not as comfortable as trainers, and a tad heavier!
A great boot for technical climbing. It's stiff enough to take fully rigid crampons, and provides plenty of support if the laces are done up tightly to the top. Ive used them for a scottish winter and an alpine summer. They're plenty warm enough for both. I'd still go for plastics for alpine winter though! Weight-wise they're great. Not as light or as comfortable as trainers, so i wear those for as longs as possible, but they compare well with other similar boots. Just make 100% sure that they fit! The best boots in the world will be a nightmare if they dont!

SCOTTISH WINTER / ALPINE CLIMBING AND MOUNTAINEERING BOOT

the stiffness of the sole and the precision of the low volume boot give an excellent climbing platform. the boot is warm enough for all european climbing except a winter 4000m peak. the boot is very hard-wearing and i have not had any problems in 5 years of regular use. its a fabulous platform for crampons and gives great confidence.
'kin how much!!!
its not for the walk-in. i wear trainers till the last possible minute - but then i am from the south...
a first class mountain boot that will see you out, but if you don't climb ice or dont need the protection don't bother. this a specialized boot and you will be wasting your cash.

I love them

VERY well made. Good lacing system. Take a step in crampon very well (Charlot Mossier 12 point)
Not a lot of arch support. When laced to top eyelets there is not a lot of protection from the lace its self.
Arch support is a personal thing anyway so it lets you buy the insole you want. As for the using the top eyelets, this makes the boot seem very stiff, but I found that excellent in snow and ice. For a slightly more general use I don't lace them that high. Wore these for a weeks 'summer' camping trip in Skye and didn't have a problem. There is a version that isn't insulated that is cheaper (Nepal) but there is not much point having a stiff boot for winter and freezing.....
