WELL MADE AND CLIMB WELL

Warm, not to clunky, worked well on summer alpine mixed routes and performed surprisingly well on rock
Blisters bigger than the biggest compeed my heels every time I have tried them outweigh all of the positives - these boots just don't suit me.
For the right shaped foot, a good boot.

GREAT, BUT....

Warm,
Very comfy,
ankle flex brilliant for walk ins.
Sole very asysmetrical, difficult to get good crampon fitting.
Heel fit is a wee bit wide.
Colour - not everyones choice.
Quite expensive
Really comfy boot, from the insulation to the ankle flex- very comfy.
Found it hard to get crampons which fitted well due to the sole. Ended up with a pair of S12s fitted with Grivel Super Asymetrical bars. Fit not bad now.
Heel fit was a bit big for me, had some slipage but has gone now. Maybe just me.
Overall I think they're Mega. So comfy. Got mine from F&T for £190.

What a fantastic boot!

The boot is warm thanks to its insulation and comfy thanks to the new 360 ankle flex. I cannot stress how comfortable these boots are! If they didn''t have the insulation then you could easily and very happily wear them all the year round. The leather and synthetic uppers provide great support and very high water resistance. However, if your in damp conditions for more than a day, i''d think about teaming these up with a pair of full over gaiters, i have a pair of extremities terragaiters on mine, and this increases the durability of the leather as well! the soles also grip fantastic but what would you expeact from vibram. the midsole provides excellent support and your feet still feel alive after a full day climbing. I used mine on the long walk in to Ben Lui and a climb while there and was still comfy on the way back. I have used these for mixed, ice and just normal mountaineering and would not recommend anything else!
The colour looks a bit dodgy (bright red and yellow!) but over gaiters soon cover that!
The price may deter some.
when walking in, try and avoid roads as the sole unit isn''t designed to cope with tarmac.
These really are the best piece of kit i have invested in.
I got mine for £180 so i felt a little less guilty but if anyone is looking for a new winter boot start saving now for next year.
Overall, the boots strengths far out way the small niggles of its weaknesses.
if thier a little expensive that scarpa have a cheaper lighter version which is this years Freney coming out soon. look that up as it has much the same features but retails around £180.
Now go get that second job to get these boots!!!
