I would agree with most of the review. Superb pedigree from a great supplier in the UK. Good stiffness for a lighter boot than the predecessor and excellent with crampons for general winter work. I use the Cumbre for ice climbing. The point about getting the right fit is paramount. I strongly recommend fitting decent insoles - e.g. Sidas conformable custom fit which transform any boot. I would also suggest looking at the Charmoz which is certainly lighter if more walking is intended.

One thing we have already noticed in store is that the GSB crampon needs a longer bar than that supplied if you are going for 45 plus in size.

Hi after looking at the feed back on the new manta GSB boot, will this boot do for every day walking as i have just started walking 6 months ago and i am looking for a good boot that will do for any hill walking and for some snow walking if and when we get any this year.

This will help me out before i go out to buy new boots.

Thanks

Wullie,

The Manta has become more and more orientated towards mountaineering and winter duties. If you go out in winter or alpine mountaineering regularly then it could be good, but for hill walking it's overkill - heavy, expensive and stiff. You're better off with a lighter 3 season boot, I'd guess.
