LIGHTWEIGHT AND COMFORTABLE

-Excellent tight fit
-quick lacing system
-lightweight but provide ample cushioning and support
-lack of grip
-cost
Have been very pleased with performance and comfort, definately worth paying the extra to avoid sore feet, although an improved grip would be nice!

GOOD FOR EASY WALKS.

Lacing system works well, Comfy enough to wear all day (but see below), Grip well on rock, lightweight.
Soft sole wears quickly, Grip is not so good on mud or wet grass, They give me the weirdest blisters if I try to use them to run (long and narrow along the underside of my arch)and I have a mate who has the female version and says the same thing happens to her.
Good trainer for walk ins or easier routes in summer, but I can't run in them which sort of misses the point! Look good down the pub though!

SUPERB (BUT EXPENSIVE AND SOLES WEAR OUT FAST)

Comfort and performance: the design is excellent. They feel fast, light, snug, low to the ground and stable. Very supportive heel. The goretex liner works very well (and isn't hot and sweaty as I feared it would be).

Lacing system: Amazing. It actually works really well. Can I have this on all my shoes and boots please?

Build quality: Well enough put together. No bits falling off or coming away after nine months. See below for sole.

Look good, too.

Sole: Definitely not enough depth on the grip and so they wear out very, very fast (especially if you're not on grass the whole time). This also means they not as grippy as they could be (even though they are clearly using a softer rubber formula than the 2001 vintage Saloman's

Initial fit: One shoe of each of the first two pairs I tried on in the shop felt weird (as if the inside was slightly twisted is the best way I can describe it). Also, I had to go a half size up from usual. So be careful when buying.

A rich man's shoe. They do everything you want and more but the soles do not last well if your route includes road as well as trail and grass.

EXPENSIVE BUT GREAT SUPPORT

- Lacing System
- Support
- Grip on varied terrain
- Cost
- Durability (sole coming away from upper)
Used these on the Mourne Mountain Marathon last year...big mistake as XCR won't let water/mud drain from shoe (like walking in a bowl of jelly!)

Second pair of Salomons, both had upper come away from sole
