Cracking pair of boots for most conditions, comfort and grip
Out of the box comfort and no breaking in required. Grip is excellent. lace locking rivet is an excellent feature and really does hold boot when laces have come loose Good solid sole

Very impressed. Put them straight on from the box. It felt like I had just put on a pair of comfy trainers. I took them on scramble in the lakes where there was a mix of wet greasy rock, slightly icy rock, snow covered rock, and slithery loose stuff. Grip excellent in all conditions. The sole felt solid enough that I had full confidence with it stepping on small edges while scrambling.
I have seen some comments in reviews re grip, but given the conditions I put them through, I suspect this may be a combination of individuals foot placements on wet rock conditions, combined with how their body weight is distributed relative to where they are placing their feet. Sounds like making walking sound complex but on rocky terrain this makes a difference as to if your foot grips the surface well or not. (and on our mountian leaders course they actually checked our footwork!!)
Whilst the sole felt reassuringly solid it had enough give so I didn't end up with the pounded feet, associated with some boots with full steel shanks, and still felt like I was in trainers at the day's end
Upper boot is robust and I think it will take the wear and tear fine. Despite ankle deep snow, no dampness crept through the boot, but no rain to test this fully.
The lace locking is brilliant It gives total adjustability for tightness of the tongue around the ankle, and when my laces loosened I was unaware as the lock held the foot and my foot placements were still secure.
Excellent boot

fantastic
feel like your wearing trainers all day long, very comfortable, light weight and good padding, had them 2 years now and still doing well despite walking hundreds of miles in them and a few runs, i have wore lots of different boots before and being in the military i know how important it is to look after them, a mate even polished his out black all over so he could wear them to work, from the pennines to afghanistan they wont let you down
as will all goretex boots if they do get wet they will take an age to dry out but thats the nature of this stuff
cant go wrong, if new to walking blisters could be problem, not with these boots though, ready to go straight away.

Comfy but , poor grip and not waterproof
Comfy, just like a pair of trainers. I wore for Coast to Coast and no sign of a blister.
As grippy and waterproof as a pair of trainers. Grip is terrible on wet rock, leak.
Ok as long as its not wet,

Comfortable, good support, responsive... but really poor grip.
I've only been out a few times in these boots (the women's version), and I've found them comfortable once I'd got the lacing right (they pushed in on my ankle tendons first time out). As the other reviewers have said, they feel very stable and well cushioned, while firm underfoot.
I've been over my ankles in water in them two weekends in a row (in the Lakes and Howgills), while wearing gaiters, and they haven't let in water yet, although having seen earier reviews on this site, it'd be interesting to see if they retain their waterproofness.
The grip is really poor. Good grip was my main criteria when looking for boots to replace my worn-down leather Meindls. I'm not very sure-footed, and lack a bit of confidence coming downhill. I choose these after reading some reviews that said they had good grip, and a recommendation by an outdoor shop (they didn't have these in stock but the assistant advised me to go and buy them elsewhere, so good was the grip!) These have less grip on wet rock than my old worn-out Meindls! The sole rubber feels almost greasy, and the tread pattern just creates a slick surface in my view.
Very disappointed overall, because my main reason for buying them was for good grip. If you're pretty sure-footed, then otherwise they're brilliant.
