GOOD BOOTS

Grippy sole
High protective rand
Rocking sole design
Lacing system
Construction
Heavy
I've had these non goretex boots for just 1 winter having got them at a bargain £100,I've heard of people having trouble with the sole but I've experienced non of that -so far.The sole is very grippy on iced rock but amazingly they are really comfy on the long walks in due to the rolling action of the sole .These boots are heavy and give your calfs a bit of a workout when worn allday but that heaviness comes onto its own when kicking steps in consolidated snow .At times in winter when the rest of me was freezing these boots kept my feet toasty but never have they got noticably sweaty ,wet or hot.I wish they were just a tiny bit lighter.

GOOD DECENT BOOT

Comfortable as all Raichle are.
High rand,
Decent Ankle support
Tread is far too aggressive for soft powder snow, it balls up very very easily.
Feel big and bulky.
I've worn these for about 4 months, in every condition apart from hot sunny days. So far i've been pretty happy with them. I suspect they'll wear very quickly like every other pair of raichles i've had, (these are my 8th pair). i was hoping to use these for winter walking instead of my DegreeLites as they were fairly stiff but they have broken in quite quickly and now feel a bit soft.
However they have been comfortable thou i notice the cold in them as they are the first non goretex boot i've had for quite a while, thou they now come with a linning.
Overall Very Good.

GREAT BOOTS, COMFORTABLE, SOLID, GOOD ANKLE SUPPORT

Good all round boot for hillwalking, and scrambling.
Excellent ankle support. Sole is stiff/not too flexible.
No excessive heat build-up/sweating encountered.
Lace system - the lace can be locked at the ankle line - making the rest of the lace-up easier since the lower boot-lace doesn't slip/free-up.
The tongue arrangement seems practical and watertight.
Designed for crampons - although I've not used that feature - but appreciate the potential.
Physically these are large boots. They take more space that expected when packing the car etc. Some people may prefer a "smaller" looking boot.
"They look like SKI boots" say some people - perhaps enviously?
Needed some time to 'break-in' due to the high ankle line - to be expected.

I've used a pair of the equivalent Raichle boots for the past 10 years (I can't recall the exact model but they cost about £180 around 1994) on an almost weekly basis, and fully expect my new boots to last just as long. I did re-sole the boots several years ago - This costs about £35 and seems a bargain.
I fly radio controlled gliders from mountain tops in Scotland as a hobby and this involves standing around in exposed hilltop situations - these boots are very warm and supportive in this environment.
I bought based on my past experience of the product and haven't been disappointed. Recommended.
