Bought these boots 2004/5 and still using them. Instant comfort straight out of the box .....

A really comfortable pair of boots, both up hill and on lower walks. Never had any pinch point or blisters.
Soles have worn well and despite other reviews my soles have never moved in any way at all.
Still walk through streams etc and are as waterproof as ever.
Probably not suitable for wider feet.
These were my first pair of walking boots and would recommend them. Did everything it said on the tin!

Mt. Trail GTX Not Dependable

Mammut took over some of Raichle's products, which used to be dependable. This Mammut boot is identical to the Raichle boot by the same name.
The boots are manufactured in Romania and the sole detaches in a sort time in spite of good care and gentle use. I returned the boots to Mammut USA and they sent me a second pair of identical boots, also made in Romaina. The sole of the second pair detached in exactly the same place and in the same manner and time-frame as the first pair. Mammut USA offered me yet another pair but I declined and they refunded the purchase price, after I had to insist.

I had to spend $150 on shipping to resolve the issue. Mammut USA refused to send the replacement boots to Canada and they had to be sent to a location in the USA and then onwards to Canada. The onward shipping cost $100. Initial return shipping cost $50. Mammut refused to cover any of the shipping costs. I finally had to get past the person who was handling the matter in order to get decent treatment from his superior. I had to fight to get decent service.

They wanted me to again pay for shipping but finally agreed to pay for it after I insisted.
No more Mammut for me and never from Romania.

I found that the sole came away on the front flex - sent back to raichle but they said this was standard abuse

Very comfortable - a couple of years of heavy use before i had the sole issue - still bought another pair just before they became Mammut boots - notice sole is now changed - hopefuly this has solved the problem
Sole came away at front flex
Comfortable and reliable until sole issue - am happy i got my monies worth.

Soles disintegrate rapidly...

Very comfortable and great to walk in when new. Very waterproof at first.
The midsole foam disintegrates, literally turning to dust and crumbling away, making the boot unstable to walk in. The little grey bits of sole start to come away, and the midsole comes away where it joins the leather allowing water in. All after a year and a half of lightweight gentle occasional hill use, but Tiso's won't have any of it and won't refund. Avoid!
Superbly comfortable in the shop and for the first few months, but a false economy sadly as they just aren't built to last. Avoid.
