Sadly the Vioz did not meet expectations
Nice fitting boot after some work from the shop to get the fit correct. The tread was very good and gave a safe feeling. There was never any ingress of water.
After 2 motnhs the rand around the toe on the right boot started to separate. The boot was sent back to a repairer, as Zamberlan did not offer such a service. The rand was glued back on to the upper. After another 2months I noticed the rand starting to separate again from exactly the same place. The shop wanted to return them for a second repair, but I pointed out the boots were 6 months old and should not have to be repaired once never mind twice. The shop accepted this and I changed for some Scarpa boots. The shop will not be reimburesd by Zamberlan, which is a bit much.
Good boots but the build quality left a lot to be desired as did the after sales service from Zamberlan. The shop were very helpful and could not be faulted. I am informed that Zamberlan boots have a high return rate due to rand separation problems. It is a pity as this brand was always my favourite.

Zamberlan Vioz - Very good mountain boot
These boots are full grain leather light weight boots that require little breaking-in. They are totally waterproof - I walked a week in Austria in rain and snow and no problems. But the real plus are the soles. The Vibram soles give fantastic grip on any surface and given I am large and rough really do not wear. They also do large sizes up to size 15(UK). Strongly recommend.
Unfortunately I bought the Goretex lined version - I think they also do a non-Goretex boot? The problem with them is as usual with Goretex lined boots they do get quite hot in sunny weather
A very high quality mountain boot that won't let you down.
