The quite common mesh-lined pockets are an Active Shell prerequisite by Gore and the "water repellent" zips leak anyway. Nearly all waterproof outdoor jackets have these zips ( on mesh-lined pockets, pit-zips etc.) which leak sooner or later.

Well the prereq is actually that you don't have lots of multiple layers of fabric. So no big waterproof bags on the chest as per the usual.

Two potential correct answers to that, one of which is simply not having many pockets! The other is putting a storm flap on the pocket zips. Both very easy to do, and keep the jacket waterproof.

What they've done here with exposed YKK zips and mesh pockets is simply not a good idea at all and certainly merits a mention. Although maybe ME's firefox has the same problem? The firelight doesn't of course.

Need to know

Excellent breathable lightweight Gore-Tex fabric, genuinely helmet compatible hood with wired peak, neat cut and thoughtful design.

Elasticated hem is non adjustable, which is fine for most users but may not suit the scrawny. Some may harbour doubts about the three stripes brand's outdoor credentials, unjustifiably we think. Mesh pocket liners could potentially leak in really foul conditions.
