Haglofs Ratio Jacket

Haglofs Ratio Jacket
It slips on like an Armani suit with a neat, tailored feel and a lovely close fit that, we think, comes from a cut just snug enough to take advantage of the stretch in the fabric.

Four and a half stars? High praise indeed  but shouldn't any star rating system take into account the price? The  price of this bit of kit isn't just silly, it's idiotic. Looks like a "must have" piece of kit for "must have" kind of people. You could get two very good WP shell jackets for that price. Surely the exchange rate isn't that bad?

Haglofs has risen in price because it was cheaper to buy from England and ship back to  Sweden.

Is a cars rating based a bit on price? i think more on safety!

So the Ratio has probably got that rating due to features etc!!!

.

not that im in the market for anything Haglofs mind, but the red one is .

The reviews here did use to have one 'money no object' score and another 'value' score. Made sense.

If only doing one score then I think to review the jacket regardless of cost and let people work out how it compares makes sense. There's plenty of reviews of the competition around here.

This one really does only seem to make sense if you're in a position such that the price doesn't matter. The Spitz (going for ~310 at various places) makes rather more sense, and isn't insanely above some other Pro shell stuff.

Mistake to judge their overall pricing by this and the Grym though. If you look at the shops online then you can see that quite a bit of Haglofs' stuff is actually pretty reasonably priced. (no not outright cheap but then it shouldn't be ).

Sorry for any confusion, it's actually not supposed to have any stars, it was a 'first look' with a full review to follow and I was experimenting and for some reason the scores stuck.

The score actually is based on a three-part assessment and averages out performance, reliability and value. I'll see if I can get those scores displayed in full because that makes more sense, from memory the Ratio got 5 for performance and 3 or maybe 3.5 for value, though I accept that 'value' is somewhat relative. Anyway it shouldn't be there at this point and I'll get it removed to avoid confusion.

As far as the pricing goes, well, the fabric is very, very expensive and the jacket's been put together in a no holds barred sort of way, so it's going to be expensive. Whether you think the price is justifiable is, I guess, relative to your means. I'd find it hard to justify spending the premium over the Spitz, say, but I imagine some people will feel the extra price is justified by the stretch in the fabric and overall, erm, niceness.

How well does it shrug off a spilt G&T though.....

Oh! Sorry, I didn't realise this jacket had an engine and four wheels. In light of that, it's well worth the asking price.

Need to know

Beautifully designed, nice feel, decent breathability, light.

Stinging price tag, stretch is of questionable benefit in the real world.
