EXCELLENT JACKET FOR THE MOUNTAINS

Hood fits great, fit is good - nice and snug. Pockets well placed - breathes well - even has a whistle and attachment points for glove dummy cords
Nothing really - bought as a winter jacket - have a lighter one for summer - this one is great for the winter
Worth every penny - the new goretex version looks even more interesting ! - it has even made the price drop on the XCR

GREAT LIGHTWEIGHT WATERPROOF

Weight, Hood & hood roll away system, Quality
Only price. If you can get one on sale don't think of looking at other jackets.
Replaced my faithful but beaten up Lhotse XCR (maybe best jacket ever!) last september with the Ogre and I love it nearly as much. Style and fit perfect and the hood is superb. XCR fabric so very waterproof even in heavy rain.

FAIRLY LIGHT AND DOES THE JOB

best hood ever, tough as old boots, easily adjustable everywhere, light for the toughness, three really useful pockets ,inside mesh pocket, folds up quite small for rucksack stowage, long body, looks very functional too if ya like that sort of thing.
have found that in heavy rain with strong winds "up top" that despite zips on pockets pulled up I always end up with puddles of water in them, could be condensation, could be rain hence only great performance.
will do the job . if you can put the money up dont hesitate. by very far the best waterproof i have owned.

BETTER THAN EXPECTED

- Very light weight
- Very waterproof
- Very breathable
- Fantastic hood
- Useful pockets (even wearing a pack)
- Free emergency whistle sewn into chest pocket!
- Do you really need anything else?
- No hanging loop (I hate hanging on a coat hook without one, as I'm afraid it will rip or eventually waer throughthe fabric). An exceptionally minor niggle though.
I bought this as my first 'proper' waterproof, as I've begun walking more and more over the past couple fo years and had started to notice the various limitations of other, cheaper bits of kit I had. I looked around quite a bit and eventually decided on the Ogre as the best combination of features I could find (I tried to filter price out of my criteria).

I have found the jacket to be surprisingly light (easily light enough to roll up inside your pack without really noticing it) and the hood is brilliant - it can be tighened up around you face to leave only a balaclava-style eye opening, and there's an extra volume adjuster on the back to make it 'grip' your head so that it turns wherever you turn your head - simple but very effective. And you can fit a hat underneath too!

I alreafy owned a couple of other bits of ME kit - (a fleece top and the Guide windstopper jacket) and this has now convinced me that they are a great company that produce fantastic kit.
