although areas are starting to wet out now (over a years service) the jacket is still fully waterproof. Its probably my fault as I have not washed it yet, but at easter time il wash and reproof her. The event f Continue reading...
eVent was new to me when I bought it, and I'd owned Gore-tex, Paramo and less expensive waterproof jackets before which this jacket replaced. I really like eVent's breathability as a hard shell. Continue reading...

I bought this jacket as more of a summer hill walking jacket as i run too hot for my pro shell ME Ogre in warmer weather and wanted to try Event for its breathability.

The Jacket is certainly more breathable than others i have worn. I do still get warm in it but I have yet to overwhelm it when working hard. It seems to deal with sweat much better than other materials and this ensures i stay comfortable and also avoid that awful cold feeling when stopping for a rest while still sweaty. The breathability is helped by the fact that this jacket beads water better than any other jacket i have ever seen, water simply bounces or rolls off it. I was in the Harris hills the other day in horizontal rain and yet the jacket kept beading all day long. The double storm flap at the front helps to ensure there is no water ingress whatsoever.

The fit is fine if a little boxy but can be drawn in at both at the waist and hem. sleeves can be fastened with a rubber velcro fastener, and the hood is good with one hand draws to cinch it down and at the back to clasp it to your head. However the hood on the ME Ogre definately feels a little more protective when the weather turns nasty as it seems to tighten down and stay in place a little better.

The material feels tough enough although not quite as durable as my proshell jacket which i would opt for if carrying a heavy pack any distance but im sure it will last.

Overall a great jacket which i would highly recommend especially if you run a little on the warm side. while others may have a better hood the Bergens can certainly hold its own.

I have the Bergen trousers and they are very good

I nearly bought the trousers myself but decided that living in the outer hebrides i would need waterproof trousers quite a bit so opted for the paramo velez rather than an overtrouser. Hopefully they will get a test on saturday when i pop up the road and try and see some of the action on the Big climb live.
