Rab Demand Pull-on
The eVent fabric does its usual, highly breathable gig and while you can still outflank it when working hard, it's appreciably better than most competitors and damp underlayers dry faster.

Rab's new for 2010 Demand Pull-on is the company's lightest ever eVent waterproof top and possibly the lightest one out there into the bargain. It's helmet compatible, so useable for climbing and mountaineering use, but Rab also says it fits the bill for mountain biking and adventure racing. Why if this was new for 2010 did i find it totally impossible to find a  Red one or a blue one in size medium.

Searched the net high and low and could only find 1 for 40 quid more than i could find a small, which i ended up getting as i am luckily enough to be built like an athlete/stick/latt/rake/ ..

Must have shot off the shelfs that's all i can think, and me being a bit slow and all ....

You mean searching just now? Then its pretty logical in its own way

Step 1 is the shops/brand deciding that its not something to stock in winter.  Then of course winter starts round about now, so last batch of 'summer' stuff must be made in July or something for it all to make sense.

So if something is slightly more popular than they expected, or just heavily discounted to make space for wintery bits then....

Do you think its a one season thing or they might be out again next year?

Only ask because the small i got is a good fit but a medium will be better so i could pass on mine to mrs diddy next year and get a shiny new one..

Given that it has been stocked by a load of shops this year you'd rather think it'll be back next year. Not that such things ever seem to be certain!

Diddy

Beyond Extreme are showing the Red and blue in medium. £127.50

I got mine from there and i think Tim did to.

Whats the hood like in foul weather Mick?

Posted: 31/08/2010 at 20:17

Fine i don't like the look fo the exoskeletal adjustment (my jacket's black, the cord is white) but it works.

Posted: 31/08/2010 at 20:21

Maybe changing it would not be too hard ....

(he says as he sits here playing with his jacket)

does the hood fold away/down ? im trying but?

Posted: 31/08/2010 at 20:27

I'm playing with mine now

no it doesn't.

Posted: 31/08/2010 at 20:30

Cheers Diddy, i got mine out for a fondle and found £3 in the pocket

Posted: 31/08/2010 at 20:32

Lmao 50/50 ...

Shame about the hood, its very similar to my Spitz hood but the spitz has just a simple bit of elastic that hooked it down...

Tho it is so lurrrvely

Black ones were rarer than hen's teeth earlier this year...  but well worth searching out

Posted: 31/08/2010 at 22:25

Go Outdoors had blue ones in all sizes at the Oxford store at the weekend for £100, plus a £10 voucher off your next purchase.

Posted: 01/09/2010 at 01:24

And black ones were going for £100 at Outside a few weeks ago.  Blue 'uns were also in the Taunton Leisure sale at £110.  Obviously they haven't been selling as well as expected...

If the "exoskeletal hood" thing is as good as the one on the Rab Alpine windshirt then I wouldn't worry - it works extremely well in practice - better than most hoods in fact, because it holds the hood snug to your head and stops rain/wind blowing in and stops the thing flapping noisily.

I was going to put up a thread before this and get you peeps to help me find a Demand in the size and colour i wanted but felt like a lazy git asking his wife for another beer, lol, so i searched high and low on my own but i can say none of the retailers you guys have came up with never once popped up on my search??

If only ..

But im happy with new jacket in size and colour and must admit i have tried it on again today hoping for rain

Your score:

Need to know

Light, packable, very breathable for a waterproof fabric, slim cut with just enough room for a microfleece.

Close cut won't suite everyone, hood peak has minimal projection used without a helmet, just the one, small, pocket if that's an issue for you.
