AN EXCELLENT JACKET

I have always been dry in this jacket even in atrocious weather conditions. It is breathable, more so than Gore Tex XCR and relatively lightweight.
Yes the exterior pockets leak, this is because in driving wind and rain the zips leak. However the double front zips do not leak. Once you know this you don't put your phone/GPS/Headtorch etc. in any of the posckets
Excellent

VERY DISAPPOINTING AND UNRELIABLE.

Good map pockets.
This jacket is not waterproof. I have used it several times in heavy rain and I too was soaking wet. My mobile phone in the watertight pocket was also wet, but undamaged, fortunately. The fleece lining in the side pocket ripped after afew weeks and RAB repaired it with no fuss. They also tested waterproofing and said it was okay. Out I went again, only to get soaked again!
I would not recommend this jacket for use in any serious wet or wintry weather. I bought it partly on the strength of TGO review, and also wonder whether it was actually tested in poor conditions.

GREAT FOR EXTREME MOUNTAINEERING......ONCE

very light, very breathable
not durable, perhaps too much skimping on weight creating problems with durability
The fabric is not hardy enough for a regular heavy use. The seams on the pockets weren't waterproof and i had it sent back, the elastic on the hem snapped entirely and the plastic pull tags on the elastic for the hood snapped... The zipper on the inner zip was fiddly with gloves due to no string, which would of course catch on the other outer zip. This jacket has the potential to be extremely good, but needs to be made correctly.

VERY DISAPPOINTING - OR, AM I EXPECTING TOO MUCH ?

Cut & length of jacket. A hood that turns with your head.
One of the most un-waterproof 'waterproofs' that I have ever possessed. Whenever I have used this in heavy rain I have got VERY WET !
I bought this on the strength of reviews read in various magazines, and I feel that I have totally wasted my money. Does anyone actually test this in bad weather ?

Have just got back from a rainy New Year weekend in Glencoe, and while walking a 12 mile section of the West Highland Way from Fort William (which doesn't get above 270 Metres and is mainly in forest), I finished the walk not just damp, but TOTALLY SOAKED !

I had put a Buff in one the pockets (with waterproof zips), and this had to be wrung out as it was so wet.

Am I expecting too much that a jacket that cost me £280 should actually keep me dry ??

Above all, a waterproof jacket should keep you dry, and on this, it fails miserably.

EXCELLENT TECHNICAL JACKET

The jackets cut,and flexability are really good. The hood is the best i've come across so far and the double waterproof zips are brilliant. Breathability is noticeable better than my last XCR jacket.
would have liked to see a GPS/Transceiver pocket on the inside
I'm really impressed with this jacket. Before I was unsure if i should get the M.E. Changabang or this. I was offered this at £105 so my mind was made up. The best feature of the jacket is the hood which is in my opinion at least as good as the Changabang's. Another thing is the eVent which is extremlly breathable and definatly better than the Goretex XCR.
