Rab Momentum
The Momentum's really hard to fault. It's light, compact, waterproof so far and breathes brilliantly. All the features and details work well too.

What's It For? The new for 2009 Momentum is Rab's lightest eVent waterproof jacket and one of the lightest eVent jackets out there full stop and Rab says it can be used for anything from fast and light alpine trips through to activities where lightweight and packability are crucial like adventure ...  Continue reading

Still not better than the Montane Quick-Fire!  God knows why Montane have stopped making it, but its still on sale on Ebay from Craigdon Mountain Sports at £99....

Check how this review compares with the Quick-Fire review:http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/news/article/mps/UAN/4996/V/1/SP/362354506695294753664

Had my montane for 2 years now, roughing it in the Lesotho mountains and still going strong.

Peace.

The Rab is helmet compatible, the Quickfire, from memory isn't or wasn't, which makes the Momentum more versatile for climbers anyway. The Quickfire was basically a stripped-down Superfly. I have no idea why Montane discontinued it - actually my favourite lightweight waterproof jacket

As far as I can tell Montane feel - for whatever odd reason - compelled to replace their 'top end' Event shell every year or two

So they replaced the quickfire with the halo. Ok the halo isn't heavy but its also not really an outright lightweight jacket either. Perhaps they felt the quickfire was somehow too close to the atomic to keep both?

Does anyone know if this is ok with a day pack or if the shoulders and sides will wear quickly?

Thanks

Cut design, breathability and features that work in a fuss-free way. Just right.

We're not sure how the lightweight fabric will cope with really heavy extended pack use and abuse.
