Climbing Pornography
Generally excellent stories and reporting from, and about, the finest alpine climbers in the world. Worth buying for the superbly reproduced pictures.
Too short and too expensive. Occasional 'odd/weird' article.
I flicked through a copy of this in 'Snow and Rock' and had to buy it - even though it blew all my lunch money for the week. Someone send me a sandwich, please!
Most of us will never experience the places and climbs that these guys and girls have; however, this is the next best thing for the armchair alpinist. I found the articles - and photographs, in particular - inspirational and I wish there were more. I suppose they manage to maintain quality by doing a great job on a few things rather than a pants job on loads of things.
Each issue includes an in-depth look at a particular mountain (Dec 04 is Mt Hunter). Whilst I really enjoyed most of the magazine, some of the letters and the odd article are - how can I put this? - a bit 'weird'. Mind you, it's personal taste really.
The image reproduction - and the production quality, in general - is outstanding and the photos really take pride of place, some giving you mild vertigo and others leading you to put another jumper on.
Take yourself somewhere cold, high and spectacular without the risk of frostbite.
