GOOD BUT NOT FOR NIGHT NAV
Simple, small and foolproof.
Main problem for me is the printing on the outside of the compass ring is white on black - makes it useless for night nav. The base plate could be a bit longer along with the addition of a couple of romer scales.
A perfectly functional piece of kit that could be made MUCH better with a couple of tweaks.

STRAIGHTFORWARD, NO FRILL COMPASS
small - fits into jacket sidepocket, works perfectly fine & smooth, no need of batteries, has a 1:50000 & 1:25000 scale bar + a small cm ruler, price
I haven't had any problems so far
It's my sole and only compass. I don't do orienteering but I have used it in poor visibility when there is nothing than clouds or fog in mountains and I am still here.

IT POINTS NORTH, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?
> Size and weight > Cheap > Fits in (small) pockets well > Pretty tough > Basic therefore simple to use
> Size > Might get lost in large pockets > Basic
hmmm, using an argument for both strengths and weaknesses...
It points north doesn't it ? what more do you want? ,nah, it really is a fine compass, its pretty tough - I know i've dropped mine plenty of times. Like the other reviewers stated, it would be good for a back-up compass, or for easy navigation (probally where compasses aren't even required), heck give it to your kids, get them to do some map reading to keep themselves interested.
I like it, but I always do like simple things! you know what they say, simple things for simple minds...

GOOD COMPASS FOR A BACK UP
fairly duribale, nice basic design easy to read off.
Quiet small which adds to my trouble with blindness, no but seriously it is what you might call cheap and cheerfull and i found that the dial on the bearing meter was quiet stiff and rigid this might be a good point showing its duribility but i found it awkward in reading bearings.
Overall i think it is a nice little back up compass you know incase you £50 top of the range compass lets you down. But apart from that its cheap and duribal it has a nice design and a simple layout.

Its an OK second compass for safe stuff
Its small enough to fit in a pocket (without gouging holes in your legs when you sit) and it points North (normally).
It has a short body. Everyone says it is basic and crap (but I dispute that).
I like it a second compass.
