What's It For? Quo 2 gives you a proper OS map on your computer screen or mobile device, if it’s on the paper version it’s on the digital version. With the digital version you can draw routes, make notes, and highlight places but without ruining the original – and print your ...  Continue reading

Quite agree with you on this. I have been using Quo for some time now and while I probably am not using all the features to their best, overall I am very pleased with it!

Ditto.  I'm very impressed.  The support has been superb (including email conversations with the developers) and had real-time Skype convesations to resolve other problems.

I've seen quite a few reviews criticise the right-mouse button to pan but I don't find an issue with it.  I think quite a few of the reviews are fairly superficial and this is an easy thing to higlight.

The one area where it's a bit weak it the windows mobile software.   There is no way to set it up to follow a route (only individual waypoints), but to be hoenst I'm not sure if any Windows Mobile device has the batteries to last a 20+ mile walk.

Overall, I really recommend it.

I've been using it for about a year now on the previous version and now this one.  I'm glad I was lucky enough to download the full version without paying before and have definately binned the tracklogs software sticking fully to this.

I really like being able to buy tiles for routes I want to plan without wasting money on areas that I probably won't go.

The right click took some time but its not an issue any more.

There are some areas I think can be improved as always and I've made one suggestion that they have said will come in the next update so lets wait and see.

The seem to believe in the customer satisfaction of their produce and I've communicated both in email and over the telephone and service I have to say has been excellent.

Aye, I've been using it for about 3 years now since the original v1 came out - back then the whole UK OS 1:50k mapping plus the software tools for £80 was just too good a deal not to try.

I've never found the interface particularly quirky, perhaps because I'd not come to Quo from one of the other packages. Support has always been great and a number of my suggestions were incorporated in the release of version 2, so it's nice to feel listened to

I have used both Quo and Memory Map. Perhaps because I started with MM I still find that easier to use.

However they both have the same major problem in that you cannot used them on a Mac without running something like  Parallels and that means extra expense and worse still it means putting Windows on my Mac.

When are they both going to realise that Macs are here to stay!!

More than a year later, perhaps...?

I'm afraid you have to realise that supporting two entirely different operating systems with common code is rather difficult, especially for a small software outfit.  There are ways of reducing the effort, but it requires additional effort up front to use GUI and OS mapping libraries, and some design effort to isolate the functional code kernel from the platform-specific code.

Whilst Apples may indeed be here to stay, the user base is much smaller than Windows, so developers are likely to go for the larger user/customer base.

I really like it, but I did loose my base map when I downloaded the updated version a couple of months back.  Any ideas?

Maybe the update has just pointed to a default maps folder rather than the one your maps are in? You could check that under your settings.

But the best bet will be to email Mapyx (support@mapyx.com iirc) - they've always been pretty good when I've contacted them.
