Breathability is less important around your legs than your torso, so most waterproof fabrics will do the job. That still leaves other skull-splitting decisions though. Do you need salopettes or will normal high-waisted trousers do the job? Do you need full length leg zips for easy access when you're wearing boots, or even crampons? And how many reinforcement patches are in order? All the options are here and available in any colour - just so long as it's black:-)

Buyers' Guide - Shell Pants
Salopettes, bibs, high-waisted pants or just simple waterproof overtrousers - we unravel the mysteries of the weather-proof world of legwear just in time for winter as well...
