Smartwool and Thorlos are the best.......
Good quality, good temperature, long lasting.
Colour range is limited (If you're really that bothered!)
As I type this Im wearing mine having just walked the dog. They've always got a close grip warm feel when you put them on. They seem to keep your feet at a good temperature regardless of the climate. I would definitely buy them again. I know they're not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for with socks. I also use Thorlos Combat socks and they're just as good too.
 stickybunn would recommend this product

GREAT SOCK
When combined with Goretex (200gram thinsulate) boots in temps from about 0c to -7c they function better than anything else I have owned; excellent wicking and warmth. I have worn them daily 6 to 8 hours every day during the winter months. The sock is very durable as well; almost no sign of wear if washed and dried as per directions given by the manufacturer.
price is a little steep
My choice for winter wear every time.

MY SOCK OF CHOICE
Great fit, very comfy, don't smell too bad at the end of a days walk
none so far, just get the right size for your feet
A great piece of kit. I won't change from them unless my feet fall off....and they haven't so far!!!

BEST SOCKS (AND I'VE WORN A FEW)
Great cushioning No smell Not too hot
none
I've tried quite a few socks in search of the perfect one - 1000-mile, Bridgedale, Thorlo, Brasher etc. All had one or more flaws; 1000-mile gave me huge blisters, Bridgedales were too hot, Brashers too bulky and so on.
Smartwool Hikers are the best so far. Although designed as a heavier sock for cooler conditions, they are fine up to 25C. I also wear them under my waders when fishing and they keep my feet comfortable so amazingly versatile.
Cushioning is fabulous - no hotspots, never mind blisters. They do get sweaty after a day out but do not smell at all (1000-milers are a biohazard after a couple of hours walking).
The fit is great - close and no rucking up inside the boot. I wear them with Bridgedale Coolmax liners and this combination seems to be just about perfect.
Highly recommended.
