Patagonia Speed Ascent Pants
They do feel properly warm and reinforced instep patches should cope with wear and crampon abuse

I've got to say, and I've said it before, Patagucci softshells are among the best for me, far better than stuff from Haglofs, Rab, ME etc, all of which tend to opt for Windstopper and Powershield fabrics for their jackets, which IMO are clammy and not true softshells.

Pertex is good if weather is fair(ish) but is just not durable or weather resistant enough to be a good all-rounder.

The quality and the bonded construction of Patagonia's top end jackets is also terrific, better than many of the rivals.

This jacket looks like a trimmer Winter Guide Jacket, which is superb. Maybe not essential for UK conditions, but a great addition nonetheless. I wear (just been out in the snow) a Dimension jacket, which alongside my Ready Mix, is the best jacket I have ever owned.

I like Patagonia's take on the softshell too - it is very different to what most other companies do, and it is often better as a result. The Speed Ascent looks an absolute beast for Scottish winter.

Looks like a 'high-tech' Buffalo top. Could be good for Scottish winter conditions.

I have to disagree on your comment that PowerShield isn't a true soft shell.  Unlike WindStopper, it doesn't have a continuous membrane (and I'm not convinced that it has a true membrane at all; a layer of glue is my theory).  It passes more air than Pertex does, IME.

My Patagonia MixMaster is a great winter soft shell, and that's PowerShield.

Apparently Powershield's getting a big update next winter, with extra breathability for marginally less wind resistance. I was going to get a reptile hoody this winter but have decided to hold out until next year.

I've gotten a decent look at some Patagonia kit this winter, as it came back into our range at EB, and yes, there's some nice stuff. Particularly some minimalist down kit (which Rab and others seem to have ripped off quite extensively), that nano puff pullover (itself a bit of a rip-off of the Haglofs LIM barrier, I think), but most excitingly some super-light and very compressible fleece in a good trim fit (R1s and R2s). If the stuff's as warm as it's supposed to be it certainly knocks those Arc'teryx Coverts into a cocked hat.

I hardly think Patty have ripped off Haglofs with the nano-puff, Andrew. I'm pretty sure Patty first made that about 10 years ago.

did they? weird, I had this notion in my head that was new this season. But I guess not. Getting forgetful in my advancing years....

Patty have a habit of dropping things for a year or more, then bringing them back. I think it's been missing from their line-up for about 3 years.

They might even have re-named it, but it was out before.

If this is genuine, wouldn't you be better off starting a new thread rather than spamming all the existing ones?

Sean, are you thinking it could be someone from Mountain Intelligence with a novel approach to spam?!!
