GOOD IDEA, BUT FLIMSY CONSTRUCTION

OK for wearing even in the dry
Waterproof enough for quite serious weather
Build quality poor
Sizing odd
Leak when pressed against anything
These are a great idea: waterproof trousers that you can wear even when it isn't raining. As with most Paramo gear, they are too hot for summer use. They don't make that scrunching sound that conventional waterproofs make as you walk.
BUT- the quality of the construction is poor. The long side zips are too fine and have a habit of catching on the material around them as they are pulled. The zips on my pair have both failed and been replaced- a real pain if they fail in a blizzard. As with much Paramo gear, the material will let water through if pressed against something wet, such as when you sit down on a wet rock, for example. Finally, the sizing is a bit wacky- the waist size doesn't necessarily indicate how well the trousers will bit on bum or thighs, so try them on before buying!

EXCELLENT

Come in different leg lengths, great if you're tall. Waterproof and no condensation - no overtrousers required. Very warm too, and the vents help on steep ascents
Would help if a webbing belt was supplied, they need one to stop them being pushed down when wearing a pack of any size

CRACKING KIT

Waterproof, Comfortable, Warm, Vents when needed. Easily repaired if snagged/torn. Also come in various leg lengths. Paramo Customer Service Dept excellent. Very breathable. Love these in the late autumn to very early spring.
Can be too warm if weather changes, but remember the vents!!
Great pair of waterproof trousers. Especially for the winter. Am now reluctant to use anything else in the mountains in the winter, although am tempted by the Aspira trousers!!

DRY WATERPROOFS

Totally waterproof
Comfortable
Full-length side-vents for cooling
Three pockets
Warm
Obtainable for £80
Struggling....
I suspect too warm so you'll need a long summer waterproof top to shed to below shorts
In cool wet weather, Cascada and any Paramo top and good boots makes a head-to-toe waterproof system. In warmer weather, the Paramo Velez is too short and would shed to wet any shorts so you'd have to find a longer summer jacket.
If you have Cascada plus and Paramo top, you're warm+dry for the worst weather.
