Rocktrail Trekking Poles from Lidl.

Very good value Carbon Fibre poles,£14.99 a pair.
Comfortable grip extending the full top section - no need to adjust for short ascents.
Easily adjustable straps with fleece lining.
Pole clip.
Clips with screw on disks and rubber tips for easy interchangeability.
Lightweight, 100gm less per pair than my Compact Kohla poles which are lighter than most.
Built in cushioning not required by me.Tricky mechanism for locking cushioning gave problems. I rang the free German helpline but several attempts on the phone failed to lock the second section. The pleasant lady offered to send another pole.
Afterwards I managed to get the pole locked!
Excellent value lightweight carbon fibre poles for only £14.99.
The new pole arrived from Germany in only 4 days including the weekend so I now have 3 at a fiver each! Incredible after sales
Unfortunately being Lidl they will probably be out of stock now but one to look out for next time around.
I have set the reliability score to average in view of my locking problem but it's early days.

Robust, reliable unit with many features (though some are obscure). Lacks one of my basic requirements.

Cheap, Rugged, Waterproof. Fairly easy to use. Accurate.
Saved tracks are are truncated (or at least reduced) to 500 points and are missing date and time
Reasonable product with many features I'll never use but lacks one of my requirements.

EXCELLENT GPS TO ADD TO OTHER NAVIGATION KIT

Good battery life, reliable. User friendly keyboard and software. Never had to question accuracy.
Receiver sensitivity. Larger than etrex.
We bought the unit after hill walking for 50 years. After map and compass and common sense, we rate having a GPS as a safety back-up in mist and low cloud. The unit is used both on the hills and at sea. Apart from the low receiver sensitivity, in some mountain spots and under light tree cover, we cannot fault it. The best £130 spent in a while. We thoroughly recommend the GPS 60. Suggest you use 2700 NIMH and Enegizer Lithium Ultimate as back-up

GREAT BASIC GPS WITH GOOD BATTERY LIFE

Long Battery Life
Ease of use, also it is easy and quick to customise displayed data fields.
Waterproof and fairly robust (although I do keep it almost permanently in the neoprene case)
standard mini usb connection
cables and computer software included for downloading/uploading data
once the gps has aquired a few satillites it is very good at holding onto them
stores a decent number of waypoints
indication of position accuracy and if the GPS can provide a 2d position (horizontal plane) or 3d (including vertical height)
sometimes the belt clip comes undone,
sometimes satillite aquisition can be a bit slow, especially if you are more than a hundred miles from where you last turned it on.
Mapsource software supplied is not the best
system for naming waypoints or routes is rather slow and a little tedious selecting the letters or numbers
I have been using this GPS (in conjunction with paper maps and compass) for a few years now, it meets my purposes perfectly in that most of the time i use it for marking points of interest and recording routes for download to my computer later. manually inputting points into the gps is rather slow and tedious but this is probably in common with other GPS's. Battery life is very good and was one reasons I close this GPS - Garmin quote this as being upto 28 hours which in the right conditions i think is about right using Energizer batteries. Has been used accuratly (I assume) from below sea level to thousands of metres up flying back from holiday on a plane.
